All eyes will always be on Herklotz when he steps into a race that even slightly suits him, but can Buchmann use some of his late season form to snatch away the German jersey?
With 18km to the finish line the pack is ripped apart by a hard-working Puma team trying to reel back in the early break. No big names are caught behind the splits but it’s clear what the intentions are for the pre race favourite.
First relevant dropped is Vasyliv, who is losing contact on the descent as the main group has been reduced to 22 riders with 9kms to the finish line.
No attacks are made and a reduced bunch sprint is launched under the red kite with Kanter opening it up. Herklotz and Buchmann side by side in 5th-6th position.
This ending to the race is almost tailormade for Ackermann who finds his way through traffic to put himself into a strong position.
It’s going to be very close between him and Herklotz as the Zwift-sprinter is losing pace. Arndt currently in third.
It’s a photo finish, but Ackermann takes home a huge win for Zwift, beating Herklotz on the line as Arndt holds on for third.
