Haha, this is hilarious news (although not good news for Danish cycling fans):
IT Factory, co-sponsor of Saxo Bank - IT Factory, has gone bankrupt! And the owner of the company, Stein Bagger, has disappeared and is being seached for by Interpol. According to sources, he's now in Dubai. Just a few days ago, IT Factory presented a profit of 420 million DKR (56 million €).
Stein Bagger will be prosecuted for fraud.
I guess we'll get some Team Saxo Bank reactions later since today is the day that the team presents itself for the press - excellent timing They are also going to showcase their 2009 shirt, so it will be interesting to see if there's any IT Factory logos on it
When I asked Smoothie to make the Saxo Bank - IT Factory logo yesterday, he had problems getting the IT Factory logo because their site was down. Now we know why

It's still a weird case. Stein Bagger was on holiday in Dubai with his wife until he one day just disappeared. She reported this to the local authorities which is why Interpol is now involved.
Initial reports said that Saxo Bank would present a budget increase on today's press conference to help the town. Saxo Bank's owner and the guy who negotiated the deal between Riis and Saxo Bank will be at the conference.
But to Ritzau, Saxo Bank has denied wanting to be alone about the sponsorship. About a potential budget increase, co-owner Kim Fournais says that it's "very, very unlikely. The short explanation is that they need a new sponsor. I can say that without exaggerating."
Previously, there's been rumours that CSC wanted to become a secondary sponsor again, and those rumours are now back 'in the game' again due to IT Factory's bankruptcy.
And Riis won't say anything until the press conference later today which was supposed to be about the 2009 team and the new jersey, but which will now be overshadowed by IT Factory's bankruptcy.
CrueTrue wrote:
Riis has guaranteed that the team will continue in 2009. Saxo bank will supposedly not increase the budget, and the two partners have agreed to try and find a 2nd sponsor.

This is turning into a scandal. IT Factory has now turned out to be one huge fraud company despite winning several prizes in Denmark. Stein Bagger has been charged of criminal fraud for 500 million DKR
Thanks, Stuart |

But Riis was sleeping when he signed the contract?

I like this bit: the first signs of the new season are upon us, as AG2R unveil the line up for the Tour Down Under.
● Martin Elmiger
● Sebastien Hinault
● Alexander Efimkin
● Vladimir Efimkin
● Nicholas Roche
● Rene Mandri
● Alexandr Pliuschin
Roll on January! |

I think SKY Sports did it last year. I suppose they will do it again. Its hard to know if Eurosport will do it. Will have to confirm closer to the date. |

More media will probably cover it this year due to Lance being there. |

The presentation was earlier today, and as far as I'm aware, nothing was revealed due to IT Factory's bankruptcy. |

Ah right. Shame really. I suppose its back to the drawing board then. They will have to find another sponsor or they wont have enough cash.
Ive also read that they have taken on a number of new staff. A fe mecahnics a few soigneurs too,im not sure if they are an addition to last years team or they are a replacement.. |

Well, I suppose Sella did give them the name of his supplier.
Though, can't see too many in line to sign him after that. No good to the clean teams, as he needed the CERA to find an extra gear, and no good to the teams keeping cycling grand old tradition alive, as he can't be trusted....
And as for CSC or rather Saxo-Bank, I think Riis will find himself a sponsor sooner rather than later. |

Sella named Matteo Priamo as his supplier. The police then found steroids at Priamo's house, but Priamo later explained to CONI those steroids belonged to his mother. Allegedly the mother backed the story. |

I know. Such fantastic business morale the man had. I bet you a million that he didnt pay tax of his ill-gotten gains either.
