wasn't sure where to post this so thought i'd just put it here as it's a general query. Will LA be included in the 2009 DB's and if so what will his stats be like? Will his stats be similar to when he retired or will they be significantly reduced? |

Of course he will. He's riding in 2009 so he should be there. |

As maggot said, he'll be there. But the stats are hard to judge, although I think they will be reduced quite a lot. |

Not just because I am American, and a fan. I think that Lance is going to surprise many. I do agree that his stats may not be as high, but I still think high enough.
Mid 70's? |

I would think high 70's.
He wouldn't have returned if he knew he wouldn't make an upset in the GT's. |

He would have, Lance is a prima donna. Personally I think he is just doing it for the attention and will accomplish next to nothing in terms of Palmares next year. |

I doubt he's doing it for attention, he isn't even going for the Tour. He is going to try and promote his LiveSTRONG campaign, and competing in a sport he loves.
I have no doubt that he will podium at Giro

I have no doubt Lance will take only top10 not even near the podium.

Lance can podium at the Giro
But with a good team and lots of training
He will be a strong challenge for pink
He has a lot to lose if he doesn't perform
I think he will be very strong in the TTs
But his mountain performances won't be great
I think he will try and race the Giro like Cadel raced the tour |

If he races like Cadel did in the Tour he will lose a lot of fans. One of the reasons he was so popular for some was because he always tried to attack wether he was in yellow or not. |

the diference is that Evans never had a companion on mountain stages while Lance had the whole team supporting him...

Not really, if you have no team mates it is advantageous to attack because then you can normally drop peoples team mates.
I reckon that armstrong's attacks will be far less frequent as explosive power is one of the things the goes first when you age.

well but if you have a team like Lance's us postal/discovery channel with riders that can control the race in a way that nobody have enough strenght to attack then it's easy to understand that he'll be more protected than the others riders who will have to spend energy in attacks that probably wont be successfull
So as happened almost always armstrong arrives the end of the stage much more fresh than the opposition!

...or the CSC team that sastre had at the tour last year, a team can blow apart a race if it is strong enough. |

I do believe Astana will have just about as strong of a team as US Postal did in support of him. I agree that his mountains may not be as strong, but he is such a determined racer, I don't know how much he will give away. |

I thought Contador was by-passing the Giro? I really believe Lance is going to give Contador full ability to win the Tour |
