when will my wage budget be updated? i have a number of riders out of contract at the end of the season but i can't offer them new contracts because i have no budget left so my sponsors will only allow me to offer 1.500.
At this rate i'll loose my best riders (Petacchi, Grivko, Caruso, P.Velits and Terpstra are all out of contract in October) and i won't be able to sign any new riders. do i have to wait till the end of the season? by then it will be too late!
Also at the start of the season i only managed to get 2 sponsors for my team and both only on 6 month contracts. When they run out can i renew the contracts or will i have to find new sponsors? i've already been refused by everyone else so will i just have no sponsors for the second half of the season? |

Your wage problems are indeed problems that can't be sorted til the end of the season, in which case yes there may be a problem as your riders may have already signed with another team. Tough love basically. Just make sure you find some good riders to keep an eye on signing at the end of the year, or find some bloomin' good talented young riders!
Sponsorship is annoying, and yes, it takes a year for that "refused" status to sod off, so if you've asked all companies then you've gotta wait till the end of the season again to get another sponsor or two. You can rarely fill three spots, so it's not even worth trying.
The two that are with you will go back to the "request sponsorship status", but they may not offer another contract.

I'm not really sure, but as far as I remember you're able to offer more than 1.500 when it's renewals. However, it may be true that you can only offer 1.500 when it's new signings.
After the 6 months, you can try signing them again. Also, the ones you've asked previously should be available again (if they haven't signed with other teams). |

thanks rjc, so basically even if i stay up this year i'll loose all my best riders and have no money to sign any replacements
looks like my story might end in dissapointment at the end of the first year. |

cruetrue, nope can't offer more than 1.500. my riders are all asking for new contracts but i'm having to refuse so they are all getting pissed off with me. There should be an option were you can say wait till the end of the season instead of just saying NO. now they'll prob sign for another team. |

Never tell your riders no! Just keep offering them the 1500. It may be enough to stop them signing with another team till the end of the season.

the problem as well is that they'll all want more money then they are on at the moment. e.g Terpstra is on 5.something this year but he wants 11 to sign next year. he's not even that good |

Don't think they can sign for anyone until after the Tour, by which time your wage budget might have sorted itself out.
You should be able to offer them 1,500 more than they're on now.
