Int. Osterreich Rundfahrt - Stage 3
whitejersey
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/Favs.png

Welcome to another rainy day here in Austria, today’s stage is a chance for the sprinters to work their magic. The nearly 200kms today also includes three KoM and points sprints.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/mcy.png Gomez is the first rider to attack. Not a whole lot of interest in following him at this moment as the stage does start with a rather steep descent I expect the interest to heat up as we reach the bottom.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/2.jpg

With 160kms to go the break of the day has been determined. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/bdx.png Serrano, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/bbm.png Fretin & Askey, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/mcy.png Gomez, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/see.png Betancourt, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/ino.png Firdaus, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/caj.png Garcia Pierna, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/t3a.png Le Court, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/sva.png Bernas &pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/see.png Reguigui. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/eko.png Vauquelin is currently 50 seconds behind but 2’25” ahead of the pack meaning a gap of slightly over 3 minutes for the main group.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/3.jpg

Absolutely 0 fight for the sprint points as pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/see.png Reguigui leads the break in font of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/sva.png Bernas and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/caj.png Garcia Pierna. Still no contact for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/eko.png Vauquelin as he is 2 minutes behind. Overall gap to the pack is 5 minutes for the frontrunners.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/4.jpg

The riders are more interested in the KoM points as pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/ino.png Firdaus beats pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/sva.png Bernas and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/bbm.png Askey.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/5.jpg

The Pole wins the next one in front of a Colombian pairing of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/mcy.png Gomez and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/see.png Betancourt. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/eko.png Vauquelin has given up and now back in the pack. With 97 kms to go the gap is already being churned away. Down to 4 minutes. Tafjord and Gjensidige are the two teams doing the most work in the pack right now.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/6.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/see.png Betancourt wins the final KoM sprint ahead of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/t3a.png Le Court and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/see.png Reguigui.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/7.jpg

It is relatively windy today and the pack has been split in two a gap of around 1 minutes is starting to form. Biggest names caught behind the gap are pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/eko.png Gall and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/p4e.png Pluchkin.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/8.jpg

Things are in general getting very hectic as we miss the break passing the 2nd sprint of the day. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/sva.png Bernas beats pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/caj.png Garcia Pierna and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/see.png Reguigui. The main pack is currently down to just 79 riders given the conditions and the immense work of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/twm.png La Lavandier who is going all out with 50 kms to go.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/9.jpg

It’s not quite the finish line just yet as we need to do another 30kms roundtrip but pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/sva.png Bernas sprints ahead of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/caj.png Garcia Pierna and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/t3a.png Le Court.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/10.jpg

With 16kms to go the break capitulates to the onslaughting peloton as pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/bbm.png Askey, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/see.png Betancourt and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/bdx.png Serrano try their best to extend their time out front.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/11.jpg

Betantcourt is the last man to be caught. As it’s not the time of the sprinter teams to set up with 7.5kms to go.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/12.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/sae.png Colbrelli opens up from 900 metres out. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/ccc.png Altanzul, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/bbm.png Arashiro and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/sva.png Sanikwathi are the surrounding riders for now as the rest starts to open up.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Reports/C2/Austria/S3/13.jpg

No one but the aforementioned three sprinters get started as it is Mongolian victory for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/ccc.png Altanzul ahead of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/sva.png Sanikwathi and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2023/Micros/sae.png Colbrelli third.
