Let's look at all participating teams in detail:
| | | | | | | | | | | Adidas - Eurocash | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | | Ballerstedt | Maurice | GER | 22 | 64 | 70 | 65 | 69 | 62 | 64 | | Bewley | Sam | NZL | 36 | 68 | 66 | 75 | 76 | 76 | 73 | | Gradek | Kamil | POL | 33 | 69 | 71 | 73 | 69 | 66 | 66 | | Laton | Eryk | POL | 30 | 71 | 71 | 75 | 62 | 74 | 75 | | Lo Cicero | Ivano | ITA | 35 | 65 | 57 | 73 | 65 | 80 | 72 | | Osborne | Jason | GER | 29 | 71 | 72 | 65 | 65 | 58 | 63 | | Stepniak | Grzegorz | POL | 34 | 65 | 65 | 70 | 64 | 76 | 74 | | Wilksch | Hannes | GER | 22 | 66 | 67 | 65 | 60 | 62 | 63
★★☆☆☆
Good old Sam Bewley is the obvious GC guy for Adidas - Eurocash. In GP Herning he finished 9th, maybe better in this race?
| | | | | | | | | | | Air New Zealand-Alfa Romeo | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | | Burnett | Josh | NZL | 23 | 61 | 66 | 66 | 58 | 59 | 62 | | Gaze | Samuel | NZL | 28 | 74 | 79 | 70 | 70 | 68 | 71 | | Naesen | Oliver | BEL | 33 | 75 | 71 | 67 | 75 | 76 | 74 | | Phelan | Adam | AUS | 32 | 73 | 70 | 65 | 56 | 64 | 79 | | Puccio | Salvatore | ITA | 34 | 73 | 68 | 61 | 76 | 58 | 52 | | Reddish | Nick | NZL | 27 | 68 | 75 | 74 | 64 | 71 | 72 | | Shalunov | Evgeny | RUS | 31 | 75 | 71 | 73 | 61 | 64 | 63 | | Zariff | Nur Aiman | MAS | 26 | 71 | 67 | 77 | 60 | 80 | 80
★★★★☆
Oliver Naesen seems to be eligible for a place in the GC sub-top. Air New Zealand also has the big favourite for the sprint stage with Nur Aiman Zariff.
| | | | | | | | | | | Babymetal Cycling | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | | Arashiro | Yudai | JPN | 28 | 71 | 67 | 73 | 68 | 70 | 75 | | Askey | Lewis | GBR | 22 | 68 | 65 | 69 | 71 | 66 | 73 | | Deelstra | Huub | NED | 23 | 62 | 68 | 66 | 58 | 59 | 61 | | Drouin | David | CAN | 28 | 70 | 68 | 63 | 68 | 64 | 62 | | Fretin | Milan | BEL | 22 | 67 | 70 | 68 | 68 | 65 | 67 | | Itami | Kenji | JPN | 35 | 65 | 61 | 69 | 60 | 76 | 76 | | Jans | Roy | BEL | 33 | 72 | 71 | 63 | 67 | 73 | 72 | | Muhammad | Yuda | INA | 26 | 61 | 62 | 66 | 65 | 64 | 65
★☆☆☆☆
No real contenders for Babymetal Cycling in this race. Lewis Askey could be in a few years.
| | | | | | | | | | | Bralirwa - Stevens | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | | Berhe | Welay Hagos | ETH | 22 | 69 | 66 | 68 | 60 | 61 | 66 | | Habimana | Jean Eric | RWA | 22 | 69 | 70 | 63 | 70 | 66 | 71 | | Hadi | Janvier | RWA | 31 | 73 | 70 | 71 | 61 | 74 | 71 | | Okbamariam | Tesfom | ERI | 32 | 70 | 73 | 67 | 76 | 72 | 68 | | Teggart | Matthew | IRL | 27 | 76 | 73 | 71 | 76 | 72 | 70 | | Van Eetvelt | Lennert | BEL | 22 | 73 | 71 | 65 | 57 | 66 | 68 | | Willems | Jago | BEL | 22 | 71 | 73 | 60 | 55 | 72 | 72 | | Young | Darren | SAM | 32 | 67 | 72 | 71 | 71 | 72 | 72
★★★★☆
Great combination of (local) talent and experience for PCT-based Bralirwa-Stevens. Teggart (5th in Herning) looks like the GC leader, with Okbamariam as an excellent co-captain and outsider.
| | | | | | | | | | | Caja Rural Cycling Team | CT |

★★☆☆☆
Maybe Ramon Domene and Andrea Guardini can surprise for Caja Rural. Guardini already won a stage in Tour of the Middle East this year.
| | | | | | | | | | | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | | Berckmoes | Jenno | BEL | 22 | 68 | 68 | 71 | 68 | 60 | 66 | | Chatarunga | Sameera | SRI | 31 | 79 | 72 | 68 | 77 | 70 | 68 | | Devriendt | Tom | BEL | 32 | 74 | 73 | 64 | 72 | 71 | 71 | | Kireva | Albert | ZIM | 33 | 71 | 74 | 70 | 68 | 69 | 71 | | Liepins | Emils | LAT | 31 | 73 | 68 | 77 | 55 | 78 | 79 | | Rathe | Jakob | USA | 32 | 74 | 71 | 68 | 73 | 74 | 76 | | Rubenis | Pauls | LAT | 22 | 64 | 68 | 65 | 67 | 67 | 69 | | Van Den Bossche | Fabio | BEL | 23 | 64 | 69 | 69 | 69 | 62 | 67
★★★★☆
Sameera Chatarunga finished on the podium in both Geraardsbergen and Gent-Wevelgem. He aims again for a top spot. Liepins is the guy for the sprint stage.
| | | | | | | | | | | DuckDuckGo - Everesting | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | | Diaz Suarez | Andy Alihonay | CUB | 22 | 65 | 70 | 64 | 64 | 64 | 69 | | Eiriksson | Eipor | ISL | 22 | 70 | 65 | 63 | 62 | 63 | 65 | | Guerreiro | Francisco | POR | 23 | 68 | 66 | 69 | 58 | 68 | 69 | | Kusi | Clement | GHA | 27 | 67 | 71 | 72 | 61 | 64 | 68 | | Montenegro | Santiago | ECU | 25 | 68 | 70 | 69 | 62 | 63 | 70 | | Orosco | Kemp | TRI | 24 | 71 | 65 | 69 | 60 | 63 | 64 | | Ponce | Joel | AND | 26 | 66 | 69 | 70 | 64 | 62 | 66 | | Vahtra | Norman | EST | 27 | 73 | 72 | 70 | 74 | 74 | 72
★★☆☆☆
A lot of youngsters for DuckDuckGo - Everesting in Burkina Faso. Norman Vahtra could be an outsider for a top-10 GC spot.
| | | | | | | | | | | Hilcona Racing Team | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | | Banzer | Gordian | LIE | 27 | 73 | 68 | 67 | 51 | 52 | 66 | | Havik | Yoeri | NED | 32 | 74 | 68 | 75 | 76 | 79 | 76 | | Huppertz | Joshua | GER | 29 | 67 | 69 | 67 | 65 | 67 | 71 | | Johanson | Kristjan | EST | 26 | 63 | 64 | 59 | 52 | 62 | 67 | | Kuypers | Gerben | BEL | 23 | 67 | 74 | 67 | 70 | 64 | 75 | | Martinelli | Alessio | ITA | 22 | 69 | 66 | 71 | 55 | 64 | 64 | | Richardson | Alexander | GBR | 33 | 69 | 72 | 64 | 64 | 67 | 65 | | Van Uden | Casper | NED | 22 | 68 | 73 | 67 | 50 | 71 | 71
★★★★☆
Hilcona Racing Team is focussing solely on Yoeri Havik. He already finished 4th in Herning and 6th in Gent-Wevelgem. The Dutchman has the cobble and the sprint skills to compete in both.

★★★★☆
JEWA TIROL wants to continue its strong start to the season. Taubel will be the main GC guy and Degenkolb Degenkolb takes his chance in the sprint.

No real contenders for this very young squad from Manada Coyote. Breakaway appearances incoming!

★★★☆☆
Podium Ambition places its fate in the hands of Chequan Richardson (11th Geraardsbergen, 10th Herning) and Darren Matthews (9th Geraardsbergen). They would happily exchange these places of honor for a victory.

★★★☆☆
Matteo Trentin (8th Gent-Wevelgem) is another GC outsider for this race. Dan McLay is the sprinter on duty at Saeco.

★★★★★
Last year's winner Lampaert traded Colombini for Stela-Vita in the offseason. He has good support to prolong his title. Xhuliano Kamberaj is on top also a favorite for the 2nd stage.

Tafjord Kraft also had a great cobbles season so far. Breen isn't here, but they can still count on the Finnish duo Kaislavuo (2th Gent-Wevelgem) and Olli Kulppi (2th Herning).

★★★☆☆
The Swiss boys Schäppi and Grand both could finish GC top-10 considering the starting list.

No real GC threat for Würth MODYF. They could go all-in for a sprint victory with Willi Willwohl.

We have a really decent team here but the race is super unpredictable. One Top 10 and one Top 20 finish for Teggart and Okbamariam would be nice and I think we have a decent shot at a Top 3 in the teams classification. Anything more than that would be great! Wouldn't mind to see former Bralirwa rider Lampaert do well, though I think Gaday is rightfully at the top of the list of favorites. Looking forward to the mayhem!

Top 10 would be nice, and maybe we can swing a surprise on Stage 2. Idk, really not sure what to expect from this race - but hopefully it's an enjoyable one.

Weird way to race the stage for T3A, but it worked? We hold five riders in contention for now, and seemingly nominating Matthews as the primary leader which makes sense on this course. If he, or Major, can sprint solidly on Stage 2 and we show relative strength on Stage 3 this could be a good race. Or knowing my luck the AI poops itself trying to figure out who we should back and we somehow miss a split on Stage 2.

TAUBEL! YES!!! Thanks for the great preview, nice start for us into the Tour. So far Taubel hasn't been the cobble racer we were looking for, but this makes up for a lot.
Love it!

Congrats Blasing Jewa and Stela having another excellent performance here!
We loved to see a time gap here. I just hope we can survive stage 2 and then all-in on the last one

Solid stage for us. Habimana in the breakaway and in the Top 3 of the U25 classification, Teggart scores a stage point and Okbamariam is in the first group, too, and seemingly both well positioned throughout. Can't complain! Hopefully we can build on that on stage 3. Congrats Blasing, what a nice win by Taubel!

Superb work for the Bahmanian NC, fingers crossed we have one more level to find on Stage 3 and spoil the awesome Jewa party.

Two for two, very impressive from JEWA, and I continue to be proven wrong in my skepticism of Degenkolb from preseason. Nice to see the PA upwards trend continue as well. Unspectacular stage from us, would have been nice to have someone in the breakaway, but apart from stage 1 here, that really hasn't been our thing so far this year.
Thanks for the nice report kb, looking forward to day 3!

Whelp the AI fumbled that one. The f*ck is Chequan going on the attack over the likes of Campbell or Gayral, when he should sit in like other similar riders. Should have had a Top10 stage & GC placing, instead we got two weird AI stages (team specific, overall race was good AI). Team Classification is cool, if worth next to no points.

Much happier watching this one from the sidelines. What an unbelievably high number of OTL on stage 3 to only finish with 79.
Fascinating, if not perplexing, race and congrats to all who survived.

We have a really decent team here but the race is super unpredictable. One Top 10 and one Top 20 finish for Teggart and Okbamariam would be nice and I think we have a decent shot at a Top 3 in the teams classification. Anything more than that would be great!
With those expectations, 5th and 16th in the GC is very nice. No points from the teams competition, but Habimana in 2nd place of the U25 is an added bonus. Also, Okbamariam's attacks were fun to watch, and it was a good tactical move with Teggart tagging along in the main group.
Happy to see Lampaert continue to thrive, as does Stela-Vita in general, contrats! Overall, a terrific race for JEWA TIROL as well, even if Taubel falls just short in the GC. Thanks for the nice reports!

Great result for Strava, Stela and Jewa. Congrats all
Quite dissapointed with that Chatarunga puncture. Until that point everything went according to plan. I hope we can recover some points in Baltic and Berlin.
Thanks KB for the reports!

Kulppi did the job, very happy with his 6th overall, with Breen not racing this one.
Congrats to Stela-Vita and thank you very much KB for the really interresting reports! |

Overall a result to be very happy about. Losing #1 in GC and in points on the last stage hurts, but we can still be happy with the performance put in by Taubel and Degenkolb.
Quick question though: What is the tiebreaker for GC ranks? Taubel and Lampaert are both at the same time, Taubel even won a stage. Yet he is 2nd and Lampaert first.

Tiebreaker should be placement on final stage IIRC.

Great to see Lampaert win back to back editions. If we still have him by then, Askey will definitely be back for more! |
