Marte, Ruiz and Bereznyak form the break of the day. None of them have any KOM points.
Marte wins the first intermediate sprint ahead of Ruiz and Bereznyak.
The order is the same at the second intermediate sprint.
50 km to go. Adidas, Tirol and Wurth Modyff lead the chase in the pack. The gap stands at 3 minutes, but it was up to 6 minutes at its largest.
Marte also wins the only KOM of the day and confirms to keep the jersey for today at least. Ruiz is 2nd with Bereznyak in 3rd.
Marte drops the others with 12 km to go. He leads them by 43" with the pack another 19" behind.
Ruiz and Bereznyak are caught with 9 km left.
Marte is caught with 3 km to go.
No trains today as the late catch of the break seems to have left the teams of sprinters very little time to get organized. Degenkolb is already in the wind with 1 km to go. 13 riders have got a gap at the front.
Degenkolb is still strong enough to keep the lead with 700 meters left to ride. Reinhardt is at the back of this group. Minali is the big name missing from this group. Raim is the closest to Degenkolb.
It's still the same 1-2 and we have only 300 meters left! Guardini is the fastest at the moment though!
Guardini duly goes into the lead inside the final 100 meters! Raim has cracked and is losing ground fast.
Guardini takes the win!
Tivani comes throw strongly to take 2nd at the line. Degenkolb is 3rd after the early launch. Guerao and Major make up the Top 5, followed by Cisse and Rojus.
Riabuschenko is 8th. Colbrelli and Reinhardt complete the Top 10.
Today's winner - Andrea Guardini.
Guardini puts himself into tied 2nd on the GC after today's win, with Degenkolb. Reinhardt continues to lead by a 2 second margin. Degenkolb is the new leader of the Points classification with the aforementioned Marte leading the KOM. The latter also leads the U25s.
