Isle of Man TTT

The Race
Welcome to the Isle of Man to the biggest TTT in the PCT circuit. We have only 15 teams at the start (9 from PCT and 6 from CT) - no wonder regarding the special kind of squad you need here, but be assured that those teams that are here are highly motivated.
The organizer’s favourites are pretty similar to those of the preview, though some positions vary.
Teams 1 - 9 | Checkpoint 1
First on the road are Genii Hyundai N Cycling, though the riders maybe won’t have the time to admire the beautiful landscape. Of course they set the first time at the checkpoint with 20’48.
Jura GIANTS are the favourites for the win and they already start as second team, so we will have a pretty good bar (if not the bar) for all teams following really soon into the race – at least if the rain doesn’t stop for the other teams. Ando f course they set the best time with 20‘37.
Third on the road are Tafjord Kraft, who are 32 seconds down at the first checkpoint.
The next team is Tryg – Gobik who have at least an outsider chnace for a good result here. They manage a provisional third place 18‘‘ behind.
Here we see Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team in the chase for … Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team. That’s a bad sight for manager hillis just 10 km into the race. No wonder they are slowest at the checkpoint 1’31 behind Jura.
They’re followed by the next Scandinavian outfit with Assa Abloy and unfortunately that’s not the only thing both teams have in common as the Swedes have already lost two riders in the early phase of the race too, passing the checkpoint 30‘‘ down.
Bralirwa – Stevens already picks up the first leftovers from the Swedes at the checkpoint where they are already 31‘‘ behind (and lost a rider). That’s surely an upset fort hem given they were among the favourites!
Podium Ambition markst he halfway point of the teams. They are able to set a reasonable time with just 20‘‘ down.
McCormick Pro Cycling is the last team of our first group and they set a provisional podium time at the checkpoint, 13‘‘ behind Jura.
Teams 10 - 15 | Checkpoint 1
Lierse SK – Pizza Ullo PCTeam are here seen already in the second part of the race and already reduced to five. They’re in the middle ranks with 21‘‘ down.
Next up are the SEE Turtles who at least shouldn’t mind the bad weather. They’re pretty much on par with Lierse.
We see them already 5 km before the finish line, Team Würth MODYF were second to last at the intermediate.
Glanbia are another one of the favourites and they live up to it with the fourth best time when they pass the checkpoint with 14‘‘ down.
They’re followed by Los Pollos Hermanos who are probably the only team able to put Jura’s lead in danger as they’re only 8‘‘ behind at the checkpoint.
The last team on the road are Bordeaux Métropole – Euskotren. They won’t play any role though, being third to last at the checkpoint.
And we’re just in time to see Jura GIANTS cross the finish line with the time to beat: 50’01. None of the other earlier teams comes close to them. McCormick Pro Cycling and Bralirwa – Stevens are up next. On the other end oft he table Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team managed to close more than six and a half minutes (and more than five to the second to last team).
And here we see the only real contender to Jura crossing the line (catching the leftovers from Würth MODYF). Los Pollos Hermanos finish second, losing another 15‘‘ on the second part oft he race, thus leaving the win to the Swiss TT experts from Jura GIANTS. Hopefully they didn’t catch a cold while waiting all day on the hot seat. Third place goes to Glanbia.
