So, this is it. The season finale! Frank Schleck has already secured the Individiual Rankings title, and his team Accumalux are in pole position for the team rankings. But even so - could turning up in a gold jersey be a little too overconfident?

13 riders made up the breakaway. Tschopp, Phinney, Rutkiewicz, Van de Walle, Parra Bustamente, Mahoric, Kocjan, Arekejeev, Bertogliati, Lalouette, Martin, Castaneda, and Verbrugghe.

The breaks lead was kept well under control though, largely by La Gazetta

The action we had been waiting for came with just under 3 laps to go as Fedrigo attacks

Bettini, Anza and Boogerd follow him as they not only close in on the breakaway and the first riders to be lapped

The France Televisions rider could not bridge across fully though, as Chavanel, Anza, Schleck, and Bettini caught up with the breakaway

Schleck quickly moved to the front of the group to maintain the pace

As the peleton came across the line with 2 laps to go, Kirchen and Kroon attack

Sylvain Chavanel then attacked the front group

Schleck counters and moves past the Frenchman

He pushes a 30 second lead over Chavanel

The rest of the attackers are all back into the peleton, who trail Chavanel by 40 seconds

We still havent seen anything from La Gazetta and Schleck is pushing hard to take full advantage
