Swindlehurst, Talbott, Barton, Wherry, Farrar and Van Ulden
The gap grew to 14 minutes at the halfway stage. Ben Jacques-Maynes than attacked and was an involuntary carrot on a stick for the peleton for 27km, before he was caught
The pack continued their pace, and lowered the gap to the peleton. Many could not keep up. With just over 2 laps to go, the break were nearly caught
As the riders crossed the line with 2 laps to go, Hincapie attacked, followed by Nydam, Phinney, Van Garderen and Zabriskie
The fed-ex duo of Danielson and Leipheimer kept calm and worked back up to the attackers, bringing Colby, Raisin and vande Velde with them
The break are now caught and with the pace remaining high. Hincapie, Danielson, Leipheimer, Zabriskie, Nydam and Phinney ride clear
They all then attack, apart from Leipheimer, and Danielson powers away - Zabriskie just clinging on to him. They have a gap on Hincapie who in turn has a gap on Nydam, Phinney and Leipheimer
Zabriskie and Danielson pulled away from the rest. They will decide the race!
Danileson is clearly stronger and uses the longer climb on the final ascent to just about gap Danielson
Tom Danielson is the new American champion!
Zabriskie is 2nd while Hincapie comes in 3rd
Having set in the wheel of Nydam and Phinney for most of the past 2 laps, Leipheimer easily takes 4th
