The two final European one day classics of the season could well be vital in the battle for the individual rankings. They will be the last throw of the dice for Edvald Boasson Hagen - and he will need to win at least one of them.
Giro dell'Emila
A strong B&O team is led by Hagen of course, while promotion rivals Champion send a weak team. The underperforming Björn Leukemans is their best hope. LA/MSS/Pearl Jam meanwhile have Constantino Zaballa. If there was ever a time for him to win, this is it.
Fed-Ex have sent Igor Astarloa, Molteni send Ruben Lobato and Procycling send Roche and Froome. Those riders are unlikely to win - but somebody who is is Wiggle's lead Italian: Leonardo Bertagnolli.
Zenmind and IrnBru B also ride, but dont expect them to feature much.
Paris-Tours
Can the race prove itself and press for reinclusion in the ProTour? With 14 teams riding, it is the 2nd biggest classic of the season in terms of team size (After the Down Under Classic). The sprinters will want a sprint finish, the puncheurs will attack on the hills near the finish, and the opportunists will be in day-long breakaways.
Hagen again leads the B&O cause with Champion keeping mostly the same team from Emellia - Perez Arrieta might be useful this time though. Pearl Jam have packed their team with those who can sprint. Vastaranta or O'Grady could be a threat. Slipstream's JJ Haedo will hope a victory here can kickstart a late surge of points to win the individual title.
British Airways send Manan and Bellis; Fed-Ex send Davis and Astarloa; Gatorade send no big names - wheres Wegmann and Vicioso? Who knows?; IrnBru send Sulzberger, Terpstra and Hendersen; and Molteni have Galdos.
Nippo sends a team full of sprinters: Abakoumov, Haselbacher, Nazon, Haidar Anuawar, Vaitkus, Lorenzetto and Di Nucci; NVidia meanwhile send just the 1 sprinter: Haussler. Procycling bring Roche and Swift; Wiggle have Bertagnolli and Zenmind's hopes lie on Gutierrez Palacios. |

Mark my words, Zaballa will finish 2nd in Emila and O'Grady will win the Paris Tours.

Bertagnolli will win both. And the hearts of the Italian tifosi!

Zaballa Just earned himself a new contract
This gives me new hopes. Or at least it will if Champion manages to get nothing out of the Vuelta a Venezuela.

4th is better than what I thought slipstream would get. Nice ride by Friedman too.

Hagen may have the lead now, but Danielson is definitely on his way to the overall win, unless Haedo does very well in Tour du Faso.
