Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the last NC race of the 2022 season. I took my sweet time, but life got ahead of me. However, here we are! It looks like a nice battle will take place for the overall win, lets see who can conquer their respective national jerseys!
Three amateurs launch an attack, and in the following chasing, a group of 17 riders manages to break off and form the breakaway of 20 riders. They manage to get a gap of 1 minute on the 35KM mark. And with most of the favorites in that group, is this the break of the day? Oh, no. After some hard riding, the attacks keep their legs still and let the peloton reunite again. We're back at square one.
There it is! On the descent of the final hill before the finish, Narvaez attacks. Aular follows, will this be the deciding attack? They waited a long time before showing their cards, but we still have 9KM to go.
And one attack is all it took! Narvaez wins it for Ecuador, Aular just missed that extra punch to overtake him. But stil manages to take the Venzuelan jersey!
Sam just misses out on the top 5, but takes tha Guatamalan NC! Just behind him, Altanzul edges out Bolor-Erdene for BNZ in the Mongolian NC.
Hsu does what he needed to do for King Power, taking the Taipei jersey home. And that was the final road race! What a finish!
