I've been a casual player of PCM for many years. When PCM 23 comes out i will be doing a full multi season save. As I'm fairly new. (i understand how the game mechanics works etc. but tactics I'm still learning) I was wondering what division of team should I go should i go Pro team as I'm fairly or should i start at the bottom as a continental so i would have a challenge etc.?
Also how to you do your season? Do you watch every race your team is in or do you mainly manage the big races and season objectives? I feel every race would be too much but i don't want to miss important things that may effect my team.
I am always a sucker for starting with the weakest CT team around and turning it into the best team in the world across 10 or so seasons.
For that you will have to watch your financial progress and don't be afraid to use an editor to adjust it if needed. In PCM 20 your initial CT sponsor has a hard cap which will never be enough to make it to the WT plus the progression is painfully slow.
It's fine if you change sponsor every year, you'll get better and better offers, but if you want to keep your sponsor and kit you have to use an editor, otherwise you'll be stuck in the PCT forever.
How many races you watch is really up to you. Same for how much you micromanage your riders in a race. A lot of micromanagement can be very successful, maybe too successful. You can just watch and trust the automatic mode instead, but maybe you find that too boring. Find whatever works for you, especially for a multi-season career.
As a veteran player of PCM saga, i can recomend you to start with a strong team in your first attempt with the game. With good cyclists for Flandes, Ardennes, Climbers and/or Sprinters. So, you can test all the races and you can learn how to play in all terraines and understand the IA behavior.
Then, when you control all the aspects of the game, you can go for a real challenge. For example, im playing right now with the Kern Pharma Team in Extreme Difficulty. There are some riders with 74-75 in main stats, so i can achieve some good results but without dominate the races, and with the time, improve the team, signing some riders that allow me to battle for the WT Division.
Start with a weak continental team isn't a option for you right now.

The problem with that is that good teams have lots of riders and it can be overwhelming to start with. I'd start with a Continental level team that has a good rider or two.
