Despite the long day ahead, numerous riders look to make the most of the beautiful weather and get out on the attack very early on.
187km still remaining but we have an established breakaway of 7 riders. They have a gap of 1'18 to Onadera and a further 1'39 to the 123 man Peloton.

130km to go and the Peloton really moving now and making inroads to the gap which is less than 3 minutes. Zubov is the cause of this.
Through the finish line we go with 120km remaining. The gap is 2'32. We'll be back here soon!
The now 5 man breakaway has seen their lead evaporate down to 1'12 with 65km to go. The Peloton down to only 52 riders due to the hard work on the front from Aker, MOL and Huski.
Off the back of that cobbled section, we see the first big attacks! It's Senechal who goes with Teunissen right on his wheel!
This isn't a popular move and they are quickly brought back within 2km.
50km to the finish and this time it's Van Lerberghe with the attack as he reaches the final 2 escapees. Gap is 40 seconds to the Peloton.
Well, multiple accelerations have come and gone but we're all back together with 69 riders, 40km to go.
30km to go and the race really being ripped apart now. Blythe is our lone leader, he has 26 seconds to a group of 4 consisting of Pedersen, Gerts, Daniel and Spengler. It's then only another 17 seconds to the remaining leader group of 19.
22km and we briefly had a leading 5 but now it's Pedersen who attacks, Spengler closest to him. Gerts and Daniel also in pursuit. Blythe slower to react. 19 seconds from the Brit to the 19 man leader group.
14km for the leading quarter, which doesn't include Blythe. They have a 48 second gap to the following 20 rider group who will really need to work together if they want a chance at victory.

10km to go and it's all falling apart! Gerts can't keep with the other 3 as Wisniowski comes steamrolling through! The Pole has brought Vanbilsen, Polanc and Theuns along for the ride.
9.5km to go and Wisniowski is riding away from the 6 riders who had stayed with him! There's then another group of 6 just behind. Does anyone have anything left in the tank to stop the Pole!
5km left for Wisniowski. He has a 21 second gap to the chasing group of Senechal (who's putting it all in right now), Polanc, Theuns and Spengler.
2.6km to the finish and it's not over just yet as Theuns attacks the chasing group in pursuit of our race leader.
1.5km now for Wisniowski but he has Senechal and the rest of this group right on his wheel as they go into the cobbled finale!
It's Wisniowski vs Senechal for the win. Who's going to take it?!
WAS THERE EVER ANY DOUBT? Lukasz Wisniowski powers away in the final metres to win the Tour of the Battenkill!
A strong ride from Senechal for 2nd. He pushed all the way to the finish.
Big surprise in 3rd as it's Salzmann who has the legs! Trentin takes 4th with David 5th and Spengler 6th.
Some disappointment maybe for Theuns who settles for 7th ahead of Polanc in 8th. Vanbilsen is 9th and Bush steals 10th on the line from Teunissen.
Pedersen won't be happy with 12th.
Won't see smiles from Gerts or Blythe either as they are 16th and 17th.
Reporter shout-out to Marcel Kittel who is the only rider to finish over the time limit, almost 2hrs after the race winner and half an hour after anyone else.
Now back to the podium ceremony and it's a familiar sight for those in this part of the world as Lukasz Wisniowski lives up the billing and goes back-to-back here as our winner of the 2022 Tour of the Battenkill.
