Frankfurt Eschborn
Welcome to all for the fourth edition of the German classic Frankfurt Eschborn! After two years as a C2 race, this race is back where it started in 2019: C1! The PCT and CT sprinters know the end of the season is slowly arriving, and want to take every chance they can get to win before it's really over. Winning Frankfurt is not the easiest task for the pure sprinters, as there is quite some climbing to do on the route. One thing is for certain, we'll get a new winner of the race. Former winners Kump, Wippert and Bellis will not be attending. Let's take a look at the favourites.
| Flat | Hill | Sta | Res | Spr | Acc | Houle | 78 | 75 | 76 | 71 | 79 | 78 | Ahlstrand | 74 | 67 | 74 | 73 | 83 | 82 | Vesely | 73 | 68 | 74 | 68 | 81 | 80 | Aregger | 73 | 71 | 72 | 71 | 78 | 77 | Howard | 75 | 67 | 74 | 69 | 81 | 78 | Borges | 70 | 80 | 75 | 73 | 71 | 81 | Riabushenko | 76 | 68 | 71 | 74 | 79 | 77 | Silvestre | 78 | 67 | 70 | 71 | 80 | 81 | Halvorsen | 76 | 65 | 74 | 71 | 81 | 80 | Redecker | 73 | 72 | 74 | 67 | 77 | 78 | Kanter | 75 | 67 | 75 | 73 | 79 | 80 | Altanzul | 72 | 69 | 68 | 73 | 78 | 75 | Silva | 68 | 75 | 75 | 70 | 74 | 79 | McCormick | 70 | 76 | 74 | 71 | 73 | 73 | Weiss | 70 | 76 | 75 | 70 | 73 | 74 | Lienhard | 73 | 75 | 77 | 72 | 73 | 76 | Kennaugh | 76 | 64 | 73 | 70 | 81 | 80 | Kennett | 75 | 65 | 73 | 76 | 79 | 78 | Siric | 76 | 70 | 75 | 78 | 75 | 71 |
Clearly a bit of everything in the favourite's list. Ahlstrand is the best sprinter in theory, and will be hoping for a rather calm race/finale. Exactly the opposite for somebody like Borges though, who would love some action in Germany, after which he could use his decent sprint to take it home for Indosat. The Indonesians don't mind betting on different horses though, as they also brought Howard in case we see a sprint.
On top of the list and definitely a name we must elaborate on is Houle. The Xero rouleur knows how to overcome an undulating route, will not tire easily, and wouldn't even mind if it came to a group sprint. Basically Xero instead of betting on different horses, created a scary new breed of horse that is able to win any race.
There are several strong sprinters that are also strong rouleurs though. Riabushenko, Silvestre, Halvorsen, Kanter and Kennaugh for example. The Minions bring Vesely, who recently proved he likes winning in Germany.
Some interesting mini-Houles and decent all-rounders in this list as well, such as CT rider Aregger, Weiss, Lienhard and Bosnian champion Siric.
In case this race really is for the rouleurs this time, let's have a quick look at the strongest ones.
| Flat | Sta | Res | Acc | Katrasnik | 81 | 72 | 76 | 72 | Manamalage | 81 | 71 | 64 | 56 | Groselj | 78 | 74 | 78 | 72 | English | 78 | 74 | 73 | 75 | Houle | 78 | 76 | 71 | 78 | Quicibal | 78 | 69 | 71 | 66 | Silvestre | 78 | 70 | 71 | 81 | Vermeersch | 77 | 74 | 78 | 72 | Varga | 77 | 76 | 73 | 80 | Poljanec | 77 | 70 | 68 | 71 |
Cedevita likes rouleurs apparently! Vermeersch surprising for everyone for home team Staffbase would also be incredible. The report itself will be brought by the one and only AbhishekGloryGloryManUtd, and as always it will be a joy to read if you're drunk! Good luck to everyone!

I'm not sure why I picked this race, but I guess I couldn't think of anything better at the time. Not expecting much, in fact if my team gets half the coverage it got in this preview it should be a pretty good race

Need a good result by Silvestre here. Not too many opportunities for him left afterwards. He should be suited well for all possible outcomes, the question is if he'll be attentive enough in the finale, and if other teams control potential late attacks as we likely don't have the squad to do so. Thanks for the preview Nemo, gl everyone!

Not the greatest race for us, since Kennaugh probably wont make it to the finish, but we gotta dream! In hindsight we probably could have slotted a different rider like Meurisse in here somehow. Thanks for the preview!

Do not appreciate the Houle pressure. Thoroughly expecting an anonymous 7-13th place finish now

Oh, didn't even remember we signed up for this one I guess we had two RDs left, and just picked the least flat of the flat classics
It's one out of just three races this year with both Aregger and Stepniak in the lineup; the former will hope for a semi-hard race, the latter for an easy one. Looking at the startlist, I guess the first option would be the more promising one for us, although we have absolutely nobody to control the race.
Thanks for the preview!

I scored more points here than in Benelux and Danmark combined
Katrasnik is having one of those seasons where he can't do much wrong, complete opposite to last year where he couldn't buy a result. Our stacked lineup of rouleurs and puncheurs brings some depth points as well. A bit disappointed Siric didn't make the final group, but I guess not everyone can.
Nice to see a CT winner, congrats to Tryg and thanks for the report Abhi

Stuyven and Quintana in the top ten, that was not on my bingo card. Great result for Stuyven who was signed with minimal points in mind but performs in races I did not expect.
Thanks for the report AbhishekMUFC and congrats liefwarrior!

It's an unpredictable race, so it's not a huge shock that Silvestre didn't get anything out of it, but it's a big disappointment nonetheless. Our presence in the breakaway was already an indicator, even if it was of course nice to see and Debesay and Uhiriwe did well to finish in the Top 35. But with many of our competitors scoring well here and in Denmark, the promotion battle is only getting tougher. I'm anxious for the next update and for Andorra of course, which we need more and more desperately as a big boost.
Thanks for the report and congrats to Tryg, a very nice win!

Strange strange one. Feel like that's not the best way the last 20km could have gone for us with Houle clearly with loads of energy to attack three times (one time chased down by his teammate, we love PCM...) and stay away for most of it. But 6th and 12th is hardly a disaster, especially a great result for Heinz Tesfaye Hoffman in a race that means a lot to him.
Thanks for the report Abhi!!

Kennaugh not getting dropped was a positive to what could have been a 0 pointer. Congrats to Tryg on a great win! Thanks for the report! Was pretty hectic towards the finish!

Can I cry and laugh please? Varga is a beast, and Manamalage gets a top 20? Really wtf?
And the riders that should do well fail yet again... This game fucking hates me, but loves my stupidity...

Ouch... Reminds me why I wanted to avoid flat classics. I mean, Aregger is a better puncheur than most sprinters who made the cut, and a better sprinter than most puncheurs, so it's completely nonsensical that we wasn't up front. Well, PCM prefers one-dimesional riders, nothing new under the sun. I guess I should have brought Moscon here, then Aregger would probably have made the cut. Or if Aregger had +1 Spr, he'd have been fighting for the win, too, given the results. Definitely didn't think we'd get a 0-pointer here, so that's disappointing.
Congrats to Tryg, guess PCM just had to make up for the Trentino stupidity, as Kanter looks like a pretty random winner to me. For me, there's no reason for sprinters being similarly strong on the hills finishing way behind him, but I guess you were due to hit the jackpot once
Thanks for the report, Abhi.

I couldn't agree more. Very happy to win of course, need those points if we're to have any chance of navigating our way back into the promotion race, but it does feel a bit... random? Kanter has struggled to make the Top 10 in most of his other C1 appearances; although this could be justified as making the most of a hard-ridden race with a chaotic finish. Nonetheless, I feel for those managers who probably ought to have got more from this one.
Obviously a massive thanks to Abhi for the report, had me whooping for joy when Kanter came across in first!
