It's the first road stage here and it's a very short one at only 108.4km starting and finishing in Lethbridge. Not the flattest sprinter stage you'll see which may favour the breakaway after the gaps we saw yesterday.
Plenty of notable sprinters are present here so we're looking forward to a battle of the fast men.
77km remaining and we have our established 5 man breakaway. The closest rider in the GC is 1'30 behind. Their current gap is 2'04. We have: Chumil, Lipowitz, Kelly, Pajur and Kanepejs.
Kanepejs wins the first of 2 intermediate sprints ahead of Chumil and Lipowitz. Gap is out to 2'26 with 72km left.
The first KOM is won by the same rider with Kanepejs taking maximum points ahead of Chumil and Kelly.
2nd intermediate sprint and it's the same order as the first. Kanepejs then Chumil and Lipowitz. 48km remaining and the gap is down to 1'38.
Major wins the KOM sprint and prevents the perfect 4 for Kanepejs. Chumil is 3rd. 40km to go and the gap still 1'40.
Things are getting desperate for Kanepejs as he attacks Chumil. The gap back to the charging Peloton with 27km is now only a minute.
20km remaining and the Peloton moving very quickly and we see a gap after the first 23 in the Peloton. We'll have to see if it remains this way!
10km now to go and our final escapee is caught. It's a 46 man peloton but the gap to the rest is small.
We have a Peloton of 122 riders with 3km remaining so the fears of some managers should be settled now! What we do have is a bit of a mess at the front due to the final little uphill. The sprinters look to all be where they should be but there is no organisation.
2km now remaining and this is the situation. On the left it's Bianchi for Gibbons who has Nizzolo and Berger trying to get on his wheel. Boivin has some support but they’re behind the Bianchi boys. Krieger and Stepniak are there or there abouts.
1.5km and Gibbons still has 1 lead-out, as does Boivin on the opposite side. Nizzolo is best placed of the rest.
Only 500m now and Gibbons leads but he's not uncontested with Nizzolo to his left, Berger moving well through the middle and the duo of Boivin and Krieger also motoring on the right.
Looks like it'll be a battle between the latter mentioned 3 as Gibbons is fading.
It's Alexander Krieger who is too strong! He wins stage 2 here in Vancouver. Local favourite Boivin is 2nd with Stepniak finishing fast for 3rd.
Dzervus is 4th with Tzortakis 5th and Berger 6th. Disappointing for Gibbons who can only manage 7th with Nizzolo 8th.
No change in the GC so Caja Rural maintain their 1-2 of Alarcon and Ablenado.
The Points lead is shared between Alarcon and Krieger.
Alarcon does also lead the KOM.
Mader is U25 leader for another day.
Caja Rural still lead the Teams.
