Hard stage yesterday, but no time to rest. Will the breakaway be successful today? Definitely a possibility.

The breakaway still hasn’t formed as we reach the top of the Alt de Fontllonga (2nd cat.). pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2022/Micros/t3a.png Croes takes six points and is now six points away from the KoM-lead.

And here they are, the break of 21 riders. The names are Gonzalez, Pruus, Setiawa, Erdenebat, Montenegro, Baroncini, Scotson, Armirail, Hindley, Rojas, Ludvigsson, Lindau, Yudha, Sinkeldam, Hoem, Blikra, Barbero, Lopez, Mendoza, Croes and Chumil. Five riders from Volcanica and Tafjord here, which also means pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2022/Micros/taf.png Weiss is the only Tafjord rider remaining in the peloton. The teams chasing seem to be Colombini, Le Creuset, Bianchi, Bonduelle, Tryg, BWT, McCormick and Pas Normal.

We’re well over halfway the stage, as the peloton reduces the gap to 2’30” with 75 km to the finish line. Maximum gap was 4’45”. Everybody patiently waiting until the two ascents of the Alt de les Paumeres (1st cat.).

You would think several Tafjord riders working together have a better chance of keeping the peloton away, but pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2022/Micros/taf.png Ludvigsson disagrees. He attacks with 38 km to go!

It takes a while before the Swede gets caught though, until the second and final ascent of the Alt de les Paumeres. His teammates didn’t need to do any work, so they should be fresh. The leading group of 15 has 1’10” over the peloton with 27 km to the finish line!
