when i scout for my saved game (windows+r, then %appdata% i find my folder and i can open fast editor for my savegame. I also find my young rider i created and i adjust the values of him to make him a bit better. I save this but when i reopen pcm game and load my carreer, the values havent changed although in pcm fast editor the changed numbers remain.

is there a step i am missing?

Did you buy it via steam? there was a problem, where steam uploaded the save files and "corrected them when starting the game. I used to trick them by editing the file while the game was open, but not in the savegame itself
