The Portuguese Road Race champion will be decided on a flat course this year. Binance have the biggest team but no strong contenders. Instead, it seems likely to be Silvestre versus Avelino. Or perhaps defending champion Borges can pull off a surprise with a late attack. The stage favorites show up as:

The break is brought back with 25k still to ride and things are calm until with 4.3k to go Ferreira, Ivo Oliveira, and Borges attack.
They are shut down, try again and are shut down again. With 1.8k to go Gjensidige has a leadout train for Avelino, on his wheel Silvestre, Silva and Rui Oliveira. Ferreira the rider on his own up front. Guerreiro getting a leadout on the left.
After a slow lead out Avelino opens the sprint under the 1k banner. Borges and Ivo Oliveira joining the fun in the middle of the road.
300 meters. Silvestre biding his time behind Avelino. Silva closest to Avelino at this point.
Silvestre doesn’t seem to have the legs or the space to come around Avelino
Avelino starts the season by signing for free and finishes it as Portuguese National Champion. A great way to go out if this is his last race.

Time Trial
Ivo Oliveira is the favorite for the Time Trial but there are a few riders capable of challenging him.
Rodrigues is the first solid TT rider on the course and he sets the best time of 1’04’35.
Reis takes over the hot seat. Beating Rodrigues by 48 seconds.
Barbio would have hoped to challenge but he can only manage 3rd, 56 seconds down.
But Fernandes does better, he beats Reis by 5 seconds to take over the lead.
But his time on the hot seat will be short. The last starter, and favorite, Ivo Oliveira, is next. He was already up by 33 seconds at the last time check.
He is the new Portuguese TT champion, by 54 seconds.
