Once in a few hundred 3D races for whatever reason the game picture doesn't seem to load properly and I get a grey screen. The simple solution, as there seems to me like there is no exit race button, is to 'ctrl-alt-delete' the game, shutting it down that way, and simply restarting the game to race it again, where the race will load properly.
All I have done is done exactly this, but now the CPU Memory is 100% every time the game tries to load (file name > pcm.exe), and there is no way of getting to PCM 07. I can get to the screen that says 'play', but when I click that there is no accessing the 'tutorial' 'single player' 'multiplayer' screen.
Have I destroyed the game using Ctrl-Alt-Delete or is the game playing up and can recover using treatment I am unaware of???

You haven't destroyed the game, but you most likely destroyed your carreer. You can check that by renaming the save of your career.
If you do not know where to find it, you can search for it. Just add .cdb to the name you gave when you started the career.
When you found it, rename it to xxx.xxx (just make sure to change the last part of the file so the game won't recognize it). Then start the game to test.
Report back, even if it works again, because maybe you can fix your career.
I've been thinking what is the problem and have decided it is the files that the CD try to put on to my computer that the computer just doesn't seem to like anymore.
Very strange, the amount of space that the game needs is easily found on my computer, its just something has changed with the files and I haven't the foggiest how to fix it. Really its a nightmare and I recently A* my ICT exams!!!
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didnt work so im confident that its what the CD is trying to store on my computer that is the problem.
I had put off the idea of buying PCM08 and wait for 2009... but I have just been on the official website and it sounds pretty good, im fairly sure that it should work on my computer too as long as I just clear up the mess left by PCM07.
