Giulio Ciccone - The Come Up
Jakstar22
Hi there!

My name is Giulio Ciccone. I am 26 years old and race for the Trek Segafredo Cycling Team. I am very excited for the upcoming season! I have been working hard on my climbing skills over the off season and I’m ready to get started!!

cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/MBqwWYaHhCN5TUYNtPNsqm-768-80.jpg

A very exciting race planner of 58 days sees me heading to the Tour de France as a main objective! The leader of the team has not been decided yet as there is Vincenzo Nibali and Bauke Mollema apart of the squad too. The lead at the Tour is a highly sought-after position and I will put everything I can into getting that position! My final races after the Tour de France are not fully decided yet as I have heard discussions of a second grand tour on the table. It is going to be a very exciting season and I can’t wait to get started!

With that being said, I cannot wait to get my season started in Colombia! Stay tuned!

See you soon,

Giulio

Ayyyyyy! Always glad to see a new story. I think it's a nice rider choice, you can perform right away but there's also still room to grow. Will be following closely Smile

Thanks Cunego! I really like Giulio so we will see how this goes! Really excited! Similar type of rider to Nairo Quintana in the early days and I had a story with him for ages! Hopefully Ciccone can grow and hopefully a decent story can come out of this! Really keen to be back in story writing!

My first race of the season. High altitude climbs will make a big difference here. I am the team leader for the General Classification and Matteo Moschetti is our sprint leader. The team list is for us is below.

Stage 1

imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/5963/2YEC4G.jpg

A pan flat stage today. We will be working for Matteo to try and get a good start to the race. I’ll do what I can to aid him while conserving as much energy as possible!

The Race

Break of the day established early! It contains Sander Hansen, De Pestel and De Rossi. They already have 2 minutes on the peloton.

imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/8759/GlLLYB.jpg

At the first sprint point De Pestel takes the maximum points. The breakaway has just under 5 minutes with 86km to go.

imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/5240/7d4MLR.jpg

The peloton is intact being led by Quickstep and Jumbo – Visma.

imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/7305/uo9Dgx.jpg

The 2nd sprint point was again taken by De Pestel. The breakaway now has only 2 minutes with 42km to go. It looks like they will be caught.

imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/6317/qgNgPE.jpg

With 18km to go. The breakaway is only 1 minute up the road. We have set up a sprint train for Matteo. Without a strong leadout man we are very interested to see how this goes! We have Mosca leading Matteo out now.

imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/5374/eA7NHX.jpg

The break of the day has been caught with less then 8km to go! Left it very close today! We are still on the front trying to lead our sprinter to the final sprint!

imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/5472/HFhtE8.jpg

4.5km to go and I have just hit the front. Mosca and Matteo are behind me. We have a small gap. Hopefully we can sustain this!

imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/123/hTH2NJ.jpg

1km to go and Matteo is on the front! He is flying!

imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/3442/L4SHCW.jpg

HE HOLDS ON!!! What a start to the race!! Matteo gets the win and the first yellow jersey of the Tour of Colombia!

imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/2674/pwlc0H.jpg

I finished a comfortable 23rd today!

A great start to the Tour here in Colombia! We got the stage win, and I was able to help with that and finish nicely in the peloton. Can’t wait to give another go tomorrow!
See you soon!

Thanks! Was a fun stage to race! There’s one more stage on normal difficulty because I forgot to change it. So stage 3 is the first professional difficulty stage.

Might have to go up again though. Seems that the AI in PCM21 isn’t as hard as what it was in games like PCM16. Not sure if others have found that?

An even flatter stage today then yesterday! We have the yellow jersey, and we are going to do our best to keep it! I will work hard for Matteo again and hopefully we can get another great result!

The Race

Matteo in yellow!

The break of the day is finally formed with 4 riders. They include De Vos, Rahbek, Azparren and Gonzalez. They have just over 1 minute.

imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/2161/f8qU8H.jpg

With around 120km to go Matteo punctured in the yellow jersey. The mechanics were incredible and were able to get him back with the help of A. Nibali! He was back at the front not long after

imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/5097/l5WZYa.jpg

The sprint point with 36km to go was won by Rahbek. We are only 2 minutes behind and catching them fast!

imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/666/Hr7YSe.jpg

17km to go. Matteo and his lead out train is ready. I am the final leadout for him today. Breakaway has 1 minute on the peloton, but we are catching them fast!

imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/952/8JKt6b.jpg

Only 9km to go and the breakaway has finally been caught! It is a drag race between us and Jumbo – Visma!

imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/163/uF5I5Z.jpg

4km to go and we are at the front

imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/6720/EQ25Ns.jpg

1.5km to go and the drag race continues!

imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/8820/MzJMd4.jpg

A massive sprint from Matteo got him past everyone! Ulissi was flying and it got so close, but Matteo held on for the victory!

imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/9746/bIkUFG.jpg

I finished a great 22nd again and saw Matteo raise his hands in the yellow jersey!

Tour of Colombia

Stage 3

imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/2052/zXdwbv.jpg

Today’s stage is another sprint finish that we hope to claim another great result with Matteo. With a larger climb early in the 174km long stage, it is a break from the very pan flat stage. 2 sprint points again today. This should be very interesting (because I raised the difficulty to professional from normal because I didn’t realise it was on that).

The Race

Today we sent Antonio Nibali into the attack. We wanted to try and not do as much work in the final flat stage before the hills and mountains begin tomorrow.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t get any of our riders into the attack today. The breakaway included De Vos, Siskevicius and Vinhas.

imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/9540/kYxyJX.jpg

Siskevicius took the win at the first sprint point. The breakaway has over 4 minutes on the peloton.

Siskevicius took the mountain points ahead of De Vos as again. The break now has 6 minutes on the peloton however still 107km remaining.

Once again, Siskevicius takes the final sprint points of the stage with 55km to go. The 3 man breakaway has 3 minutes on the peloton led by Quickstep and Jumbo – Visma.

With 12km to go, the drag race begins again with Jumbo – Visma and us fighting for the lead of the peloton. The final 2 riders of the breakaway, Siskevicius and De Vos, are only 30 seconds ahead with 13km to go. They will be caught soon.

With 9km to go the breakaway is caught and Jumbo – Visma is on the left side of the road, and we are on the right side.

5km to go and we are the lone team on the front! Simmons is leading now with Mosca on his wheel then myself and Matteo.

Matteo! He is sprinting incredibly in that yellow jersey! It was a really messy sprint where he actually lost my wheel. He picked up Petit’s wheel and managed to finish fast!

Petit beat out Teunissen for 2nd. I managed to finish 16th today leading into the hill stages from tomorrow.

Giulio’s Reaction:

Matteo is only 24 and already a huge start to the season! Happy with how it went and I cannot wait to get into the hills tomorrow. It is going to be hard racing against a rider like Egan Bernal, however I’m really excited to get my season started properly

See you then

Giulio
