Bayern Rundfahrt
Bayern Rundfahrt is a 4-stage race that goes back to 2010 in Mangame history. Currently the stages are two TTs totalling 65k, a mountain stage and a sprint stage. This is a format the favors climbers who can time trial and one of the best in that category, Tenorio, has won it the last two years. He is chasing bigger things in the PT this year so he won’t be back to go for three in the row.
Instead, the top favorites are:
| MT | HI | TT | RS | RC | Shikai | 81 | 71 | 76 | 76 | 78 | Uran | 80 | 72 | 76 | 78 | 72 | Gesink | 79 | 77 | 76 | 74 | 74 | Bernal | 79 | 72 | 76 | 78 | 80 | Brändle | 76 | 71 | 79 | 73 | 72 | Dunbar | 77 | 76 | 77 | 77 | 78 | Laengen | 76 | 73 | 76 | 75 | 75 |
These riders stand out as being able to both climb and time trial pretty well. Uran was 5th last year while Shikai was 4th two years ago. A win for him could help Voyagin - Bird stave off relegation. If ability on intense climbs becomes important then Gesink and Dunbar have an advantage with their superior hill ability.
But there are other riders to consider who aren’t as strong all-around but are good at either the TT or in the mountains and decent at the other. Top contenders from that group are:
| MT | HI | TT | RS | RC | Borisavljevic | 77 | 73 | 74 | 74 | 75 | Izagirre | 74 | 81 | 77 | 72 | 69 | Goncalves | 73 | 71 | 78 | 72 | 74 | Ablenado | 78 | 67 | 72 | 77 | 77 | Uwizeyimana | 76 | 72 | 74 | 75 | 77 | Soler | 76 | 71 | 74 | 74 | 76 | Barbio | 74 | 72 | 76 | 73 | 68 | Dees | 74 | 71 | 76 | 75 | 70 | Kozhatayev | 77 | 74 | 72 | 75 | 71 | Schir | 77 | 72 | 72 | 72 | 74 | Affonso | 76 | 72 | 73 | 70 | 74 |
The most notable rider here is Izagirre who finished 3rd in this race both the last two years and has the best hill stat among all the contenders. While Borisavljevic was the top young rider 2 years ago. The others are likely in the 2nd tier of contenders. There are many more with some TT and some MT skills but we will let the road dictate if they get attention.
With two flat TT stages and lots of TT KMs the race also attracts some pure time trialists.
| TT | FL | RS | Zmorka | 82 | 74 | 75 | Howson | 80 | 71 | 74 | Lammertink | 80 | 74 | 76 | Fiedler | 80 | 76 | 71 | Dillier | 80 | 70 | 77 | Viennet | 80 | 72 | 75 | Brändle | 79 | 75 | 73 | Haugard | 79 | 72 | 77 | Cosnefroy | 78 | 76 | 81 | Onodera | 78 | 74 | 74 | Quaade | 78 | 71 | 70 | Goncalves | 78 | 70 | 72 | Hansen | 77 | 77 | 73 | Archbold | 77 | 73 | 71 | Ligthart | 77 | 71 | 64 | Vangstad | 77 | 74 | 75 | Fominykh | 77 | 74 | 71 | Cheung | 77 | 75 | 74 | Dunbar | 77 | 69 | 77 | Izagirre | 77 | 71 | 72 | Norsgaard | 77 | 72 | 73 | Wolf | 77 | 70 | 72 |
Zmorka has been outstanding for Los Pollos this year and he won Stage 4 of this race last year. He will be the favorite for both stages 1 and 4 this year. The Urkanian is the standout name but he has some top competitors in Howson, Lammertink, Fiedler, Dillier, and Viennet.
There is only one sprint stage so not surprisingly the top sprinters have skipped this race. But there are a few famous names here in Guerao and Kristoff. While CT team, Strava, send Bouhanni, who is one of the best allaround sprinters in the race. But probably the top favorite is Liu with Kalaba also a threat.
| FL | SP | AC | RS | Guerao | 73 | 82 | 75 | 63 | Kristoff | 72 | 80 | 74 | 66 | Liu | 74 | 80 | 80 | 69 | Bouhanni | 74 | 80 | 77 | 69 | Kalaba | 74 | 79 | 79 | 72 | Abdul Halil | 68 | 79 | 77 | 66 | Aberasturi | 74 | 79 | 78 | 71 | Van der Sande | 75 | 79 | 79 | 73 | Manarelli | 72 | 79 | 79 | 65 |

Certainly going to be an interesting race!
Had some success here in the past with Borisavljevic so he’s back again for more! A Top 10 would have to be considered a good result here.
Cosnefroy is here off the back of some great performances so hopefully he can continue here. He’s not the best climber but he may be able to hold on long enough for a decent GC result.
Only 1 sprinter stage for Abdul Halil to try deliver. He brings some confidence too so hopefully he can at least try his luck!
Thank you for the preview and good luck to all! Hopefully it’s exciting racing

Should be an interesting one! Curious to see how Lammertink does on the Queen stage, he could do a good GC if he's motivated there.
Having said that, Laengen is our big hope here, as the preview points out. A top 5 looks to be a difficult goal, but we'll definitely try |

This is our last serious points scoring opportunity of the year. Best case would be two Top 5s, maybe even Top 3s by Fiedler with perhaps some minor points classification scoring, and a Top 10 by Uwizeyimana. Worst case is something like two TTs just outside the Top 10 and not even a Top 25 by Uwi. Both arguably possible. Luck has not been on our side recently, let's see if that changes.

A weaker than expected startlist, might actually be worse for us. Very interesting to see Brandle on his own without Keizer who I expected to win this blindfolded as he’s done previously. Unfortunately for us makes Shikai the man to beat, which doesn’t bode well for our survival hopes.
Dunbar perfectly suited here, did very well in Britain when considered a favourite so hope he can achieve a podium here. Big fuck up not having Page or Hofer here, we need to scrape every point we can going into the final race day in Emilia. With Penasa performing well in Morocco, Carrefour continuing their somewhat overachieving results and Voyagin expecting a good return with Shikai and Liu here, Dunbar is quite literally riding for our season. We need to go into Emilia with a decent buffer as Kinoshita, Kelderman, and MVS/Bakelandts/random carrefour rider that always seems to just do well could score big there and sink us. Jensen and Dunbar racing there could give us a decent return, but could also go balls up as it’s a roll of the dice race. Sorry for the verbal diarrhoea, this race is terrifyingly exciting! Good luck to everybody.
Thanks for the preview!

Thanks for the preview, Ulrich! Before the season I thought this race would be very important for our final push to stay inside the division, now it seemsit might be the deciding factor for promotion. Two stage wins by Zmorka woul seal the deal I think, but can't expect him to win everything. A top-3 from Manarelli in the sprint would be great, and some minor GC depth points from Affonso (or Zmorka?) are also on the table. Good luck to everyone

Looks like a much weaker startlist in terms of climbers than last year - will be interesting to see how that affects the mountain stage.
Shikai has a huge opportunity of getting his team out of the relegation zone, and it's pretty hard to look past him here. And if Dunbar performs up to expectations for once, the same could be true for Indosat as well.
However, if the TTs are rather windy with changing conditions, there could be unexpectedly large time differences. Should be an interesting race for sure! And I wouldn't even exclude a Top10 for Zmorka if stage 3 is ridden very passively!

Wow, wasn't expecting this, but if Shikai can do as others have suggested he might, I would be ecstatic. Not too often we've been one of the stronger teams this season though, so perhaps my team wont know how to handle things.

Uran positioning himself quite well here! Minimal losses to Brandle amd Dunbar, beating Shikai! Can't have wished for a better start tbh

Heck yeah Eddie! Best start we could have hoped for. Losing no time to other contenders and finishing in the points along with the u25 jersey thanks for the report!

Mixed feelings after that one.
Cosnefroy with a really solid ride to take 5th on the day is something we can definitely be happy with
Borisavljevic losing over 2 minutes and being well down on other climbers isn’t ideal but he’s not out of it just yet at a minute back to most others.
Thanks for the report and congrats to Polar! Great start for the likes of Uran, Dunbar and Izagirre in particular.

That was a really poor performance from our key riders for this race Very difficult to see us bounce back with Laengen after that. I guess he should be allowed an off-race too, having been brilliant for some key races up to this point this season. Though, you always remember the last race the best, which is unfortunate
Congratulations on the stage win, beagle! And also to those managers with GC riders high up, great start for you! |

Thanks guys for congratulations!
Viennet has been quite poor whole season and I wanted to get rid of him. Now I might reconsider my opinion
Now the last chance for Guerao to shine and then mountain stage, where we hopefully won't try to defend yellow jersey at all costs.

Decent stage for us. 6th is fine for Fiedler, the time loss for Uwi seems to be fine as well. Not great, could have been worse. Now hopefully we'll be in the break tomorrow, and then on to the deciding stages ...

Very disappointing time trial for us. Was nice to see Manarelli (and Ruiz) in the scoring positions in the second stage, but unless Zmorka wins the second time trial it seems this race will be a disappointment for us. Congratulations to the stage winners so far, and thanks to Ulrich for two very nice reports. Looking forward to the next GC-deciding stage
