After the more decisive stage of yesterday, today's stage of 176.6km is suited to the sprinters or a breakaway. Scully won the other sprinter stage but this one may be a bit too punchy for him. Bewley is also very capable of winning from a sprint after winning the flat cobbled stage.
It's another rainy day for the riders. We have a breakaway formed early on of only Van Hooydonck (+ 7'16) and Potts (+ 8'36).
Neither of these 2 have any points in the KOM and, as such, there is no fight for the points so Van Hooydonck rolls through first. The gap is 2'49 with 142km to go.
No contest at the first of the intermediate sprints either as Van Hooydonck is first.
The 2nd of 2 intermediate sprints is won by Potts. The gap is 4'08 with 67km to go, having peaked at 4'35.
Kalaba takes the last remaining point from the Peloton.
50km remaining and Generali seem to not be fussed with chasing the breakaway as the gap is out to 5'32!
40km and the gap is 6'08. Van Hooydonck @ + 7'16 could be about to jump a long way up the GC.
20km for the leading duo and their gap has come down quickly to 3'53. The front of the Peloton is moving very quickly which is seeing gaps throughout the Peloton.
10km remaining for the 52 man Peloton and the gap for the 2 leaders is still 2'32.
Only 1km left for our 2 leaders and the sprint begins. Potts is the better sprinter of the 2.
Further back and the Peloton has 3km to go. The sprinters and King Power are in position at the front.
400m and the sprint is well underway. Potts is still ahead but Van Hooydonck is contesting him!
And it's a stage win for Van Hooydonck who outsmarts Potts.
The Peloton comes under the kite as the sprinters begin their accelerations.
Kamberaj is in the best position to win the Peloton sprint with 400m to go.
In a very disorganised sprint, Kamberaj wins it to finish 3rd. Kalaba is 4th ahead of Pedersen in 5th.
The 5 riders completing the Top 10 are Hsu in 6th, Moser 7th, Aregger 8th, Rowe 9th and former stage winner Bewley is 10th.
Controversially, no gap is given between 3rd place Kamberaj and 173rd.
No change in the GC where it's still Kung ahead of Cavagna and Oliveira.
Bewley leads the Points classification by 18 points now.
Goldstein still with a relatively comfortable lead in the KOM.
No change in the U25s where it's still Wirtgen ahead of Ganna.
Puma-SAP remain in the lead in the Teams ahead of Generali.
