Bienvenidos a México, cabrones! This stage has been dubbed a mini Milano – san Remo, and we can see why. 21 KoM-points on offer today, and possibly the penultimate bunch sprint of this Tour.

None of them are a direct threat for the GC or any other classification. The Tryg rider has won stage six from the breakaway, the Duolingo rider was second on stage ten, also from the breakaway.

It’s a long stage and after some very hard days it was always a possibility for the peloton to let this one slide. It seems to be happening indeed, 150 km to go and the gap now at 9’, with only yellow jersey team Kraftwerk doing some damage control.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2021/Micros/t3a.png Croes is the only one to go for the available KoM-points, adding 15 points to the tally by crossing the top of the three consequent fourt cat. climbs in first position, which brings him to fifth in that classification. 87 km to the finish line as the peloton is at 16’30”.

The final is about to start. The good news: all of the eight breakaway riders will score at least one MGUCI point today. 25.5 km to go, two hills to conquer. First hill starting now: third cat. ascent with 3km at 5.8%. Former stage winner pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2021/Micros/trg.png Johannessen should be the strongest climber, whereas pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2021/Micros/t3a.png Croes should be a slightly better puncheur. The Podium Ambition rider did waste some energy by attacking for the KoM’s and might do it for this one as well, but didn’t do any other work in the break today. Will this finally be a stage win for the attacking riders from the Carribean? Peloton still around 15’ with Kraftwerk doing all the work.

Going into the final five km, his gap to both groups has grown an additional 5”! Not the best day for Podium Ambition, whereas Tryg is already popping some champagne bottles in the team bus!
