'llo folks, since im getting a new pc for my b'day I finally made a decision, however I;d still like to ask u whether this kind of a pc is really good, afaik its very good especially concerning the price
ALTERNATE Minerva
AMD Phenom X4 9650 (2,3 GHz)
3072MB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT (512 MB)
640 GB memory
for 679 euros, there is also another one which is 30 euros cheaper and the only differnece is that it has Intel Core Duo instead of AMD Phenom...does anyone know anything about that or what the difference between those 2 are?

Well, people in Holland make more money than those in Romania so it balances out

Well the pc is nice, however the combination Vista - GeForce 8600GT seems to be causing problems, most of the times whether its in fm08 or medieval total war it crashes or gives me a blue screen after 40 mins or so, really sucks bigtime

If it's a general error, I'm glad I don't have either of theese games.

Phenom was a massive failure for AMD, since they have low frequencies and underperform against Intel CPU for an equal frequency. Core 2 Duo has two cores, whereas Phenom x4 have... 4.
Unless you encode (=create) videos or do stuff like that, you don't need a quad core, very little games or usual applications benefit from it at the moment. It'll improve in the coming years, but don't expect radical changes in the time of 1 or 2 years.
About the rest of the specs : 3072 Mb of Ram ? That means you have 3 slots used, thus you can't use dual channel mode (improves your performances, mostly when copying files). Go either for 2048 Gb (2x1Gb ) or 4 Gb (2x2x1 Gb or 2x2Gb ).
8600 GT was already a holy crap when it came out one and a half year ago. I'm shocked it's still sold... 9600 GT is the cheapest decent card for gaming, but it will soon be outdated. Better go for a 8800 GT, or even better and not that much more expensive : an ATI 4850.
French internet prices for your stuff (if you're able to mount it yourself) :
8600GT (512 Mb ) : 55 €
3 Gb Ram, Kingston PC6400 (3x1Gb ) : 45 €
Phenom 9650 : 130 €
Decent MoBo for such stuff : about 60 €
Box with Power Supply Unit : 60 €
Total : 350 €, you could add a 20 € DVD burner...

well I took the 8600 GT cos the 8800GT was too expensive and didnt want the 9600 cos I wanted one that wouldnt be outdated too soon as u pointed out. Well just tested pcm for 1 hour and that ran well...

8600 GT is older than 9600 GT, as the number suggests.
How tall is your screen (I mean which resolution do you play on) ? |

1440x900 ? That's about 1,3 MPixel, equivalent to 1280x1024 then.
Check this chart, it shows the average number of FPS per videocard in nowadays games :

8600 GT ? Never.

As for the freezing problems, I solved mine this year by not buying PCM 08. |

No freezing in PCM08, for me. A lot in PCM06 though. |
