Demare is in the race lead but doesn't have a stage win. We saw Degenkolb win yesterday after a no-show on the opening stage. Maybe now it's time for Coquard or Grosu to pick up a good result.
A 5 man group gets away after multiple attacks which sees them with a 2'39 gap with still 120km to go.
Vangstad
Arashiro
Skala
Quispe
Honore
Quispe is able to win the first of 2 intermediate sprints in a well contested sprint.
90km to go. The gap did go above 3 minutes but is back down to 2'38.
60km to go and the gap is 2'13. Puma-SAP doing the majority of the work with Festina while Binance are providing some support too.
Arashiro wins the 2nd intermediate sprint.
The gap is coming down fairly quickly in the last few kilometres as it's 1'34 with 30km to go.
Still a 1 minute lead for the breakaway with 20km to go. This could be tight!
Only a 24 second gap now with 10km to the line.
3km to go and the breakaway will be caught but they may make the sprint a little messy. Noppe is at the front of the Peloton for Kennaugh but there is no other support.
Bit of a mess here with 2km to go as we have the following. Behind the 2nd line of riders is Demare who is probably out of contention for the stage along with Swift, Enger and Degenkolb who is even further back.
Noppe
Kennaugh
Halvorsen
Zabel
Van der Kooij
Kortsidakis
Grosu
Farantakis
Coquard
Manninen
Liu
Reinhardt
1.5km to go and Grosu on the left is utilising his lead-out and has a 100m lead. Coquard still has Farantakis in front of him. The others all here but no trains to follow other than Manninen who is with Coquard.
800m to go. It's not looking good for Grosu who is losing speed already.
Coquard moves into a narrow lead with 600m to go! Manninen and Halvorsen look most likely to contest the Frenchman as Zabel is also losing speed now.
300m to go and Coquard is losing speed as Manninen comes tearing through the middle followed by Halvorsen and Liu.
And it is indeed a stage win for Matti Manninen!
Coquard has to settle for 2nd. Liu takes the final podium spot ahead of Halvorsen and Reinhardt with Zabel in 6th.
Grosu is 7th. Farantakis actually holds on for 8th. Kennaugh and Van der Kooij round out the Top 10.
Demare is 11th and ensures no gaps between himself and the stage winner.
Liu moves into Yellow, a reward for consistency, with Manninen in 2nd. The big 3 of Demare, Coquard and Degenkolb are 3rd, 4th and 5th and all within 10 seconds of the GC lead.
It's a 1 point lead for Liu over Manninen in the Points.
Again, no change in the KOM for Tratnik.
Halvorsen maintains his lead in the U25s.
Tryg are now the leading Team.
