Luca Pascani manager for Quick-Step!

Quick-Step has just unvieled that they have signed a new manager for their proffessional cycling team. To everybody's surprise it is the unknown 44 year old Pascani who got the job. The sponsors say that they have full confidence in Pascani, who hasn't had any experience as a general manager in cycling. "Yes, it is true that I have signed a contract with the team, my contract doesn't end before I release myself or if the sponsors gives me the sack. I have big plans with this team and I hope to do well" Pascani said under a press conference.

@Issoisso: Yeah, I probably will. Don't think I can get the presentation done tonight since I have to play a football match and also because I forgot I had a test tommorow...

I just made the name up because I wanted to play as Italy in the worlds Smile

TEAM PRESENTATION
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/team-1.jpg

Riders:

i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Team-3.png

Main Riders:

TOM BOONEN
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Boonen_stats.png
"Tornado" Tom will go for the spring and cobbled classics such as Milan-San Remo and Paris Roubaix. He will also go for the green jersey in the Tour.

PAOLO BETTINI

i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Bettini_stats-2.png
Paolo will first peak for the Ardennes classics then try to maintain his for for the Giro where he will be chasing a much wanted stage win. Then he will have a resting period before he will try to win the world championships in Varese.

STIJN DEVOLDER
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Devolder_stats.png
Stijn will peak for the cobbled classics and is assigned to help Boonen win, but on a good day he could go for the win himself, he might also try to win the Ronde van Vlaanderen because he doesn't suffer as much in the hills as much as the other cobble specialists.
He will also peak for the Tour trying to get a top 10, although he might end up helping Boonen with the green jersey on the flat stages.

Other Riders:

JUAN MANUEL GÁRATE: Juan Manuel will be our leader for the Vuelta and is peaking for this race only.

CARLOS BARREDO: Carlos will be peaking in spring to help Boonen in the cobbled classics and Bettini in the Ardennes, while he will be going for a stage win in the Vuelta.

GERT STEEGMANS: Gert will be helping Boonen in the Paris Roubaix and also as a lead out man for the Tour. Gert is an excellent sprinter who could easily take a stage win with some luck in one of the grand tours.

GIOVANNI VISCONTI: Giovanni will peak for the Giro and will mainly be helping Bettini to win a stage, but if Paolo's legs feels bad he might go for the stage himself.

SPONSOR GOALS

i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Sponsor_goals-1.png

The sponsors want us to win the Ronde van Vlaanderen, Paris Roubaix, the green jersey and the Giro di Lombardia, and also getting a podium place in the Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

The goals are hard, but that doesn't mean that they are impossible.

i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Krivstovattacks_menginpronicounters.jpg

There is a lot of disagreement in the brakeaway group and Fischer attacks, no one was able to follow him!
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/FischerattacksandPronitriestocounte.jpg

If the group had worked together instead of trying to go alone they would have done a much better threat to the peleton. Here's Fischer reeled in at 19 km left
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Fischerreeledin19kmbeforefinish.jpg

3 km left and Weylandt has found Ciolek's wheel and he sits comfortably behind him when Eisel opens the sprint for Team Columbia
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/WeylandtsittingonCiolekswheel-Haedo.png

Ciolek is by far the strongest in the peleton today and Waylandt clinches second in front of Julian Dean by staying in Ciolek's slipstream. Nice performance by the Belgian sprinter!

TOUR DOWN UNDER STAGE 2

i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Profile.png

There was a group of sprinters who set a high pace before one of the intermediate sprints. In the end there was 24 of them, Roelandts took the sprint in front of team mate McEwen and the Credite Agricole rider Robert Hunt.i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Roelandts-McEwen-Hunt.png

Some of the ones in the group that went for the sprint refused to drop back and formed a brakeaway, because of this Proni couldn't get any climbing points. Bodrogi took the mountain sprint and is now tied with Proni.
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Bodrogi-Mountainsprint.png

A group of five (a Milram rider is not in the picture) joined the brakeaway 20 km to the line.
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Groupof5joiningthebrakeawaygroup.png

The brakeaway group was reeled in with 5 km left except for the Credit Agricole rider Roche. Roche was 30 seconds in front with 4 km left and it looked like he could make it. At the same time Weylandt is having a bad day and is desperate to stay on Cioleks wheel.
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Weylandthurtinginthesmallhills.png

The sprint is a mess because of the small hills and Weylandt is nowhere near the front, but Matteo Tosatto is in a good position. Roche is also reeled in 1,5 km to the line.
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Tossattoinagoodposition.png

And out of nowhere Kyle Gritters passes Caleb Manion and Fabio Boldato and wins the stage! Tosatto opened up the sprint too early and payed the penalty be ending fourth.

TOUR DOWN UNDER STAGE 3

i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Profile-1.png

As normal the morning brakeaway went off, containing Krivstov who probably has been the most aggressive rider until now, Olman, Schreck, Dyudya and Furlan.
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Brakeaway.png

Nothing really happened before the end where McGee, Bøchman, Engoulvent and Dion got a small gap from the strong crosswinds.
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Gap.png

When the sprint starts the four has a few meters lead the no one can close, Dion sprints away and gets a lot of meters on the rest.
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/DionGap.jpg
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/DionGap2.png

Then Dion does the stupid thing to sit down and cruise over the line, Kirk O'Bee comes with great speed and it looks like it is going to be close.
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/OBee.png

There is nothing between them anymore
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/Obee-Dion.png

Kirk O'Bee wins! Dion payed the price there!
i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/ponka00/OBee-1.png

Weylandt couldn't close the gap because of the winds and ended 11th. He was not happy after the race.
