After a fantastic run in the ITT, Zmorka is the new leader of the race. He will have his work cut out on the hills today, but he did survive the previous hilly stage in the pack and will be motivated to do the same again. Let's see if he can do it again or if someone is able to usurp him for the race win.

Last chance saloon for breakaways in this race and nine riders join it today.
Van Garderen, Grossschartner Kanerva Destribois Brkic, Dahl-Olsen Uwizeyimana Gayral Doull
Van Garderen is a very strong rider for a stage like this. He's a long way down in the GC, so the peloton have allowed him to get away. He has support from Grossschartner as well. Kanerva is the best placed in the GC at just under four and a half minutes.
26 KOM points are available today with Koretzky currently leading on 12. Van Garderen is the only one among the break who has any, with 5 points.
Uwizeyimana wins the first KOM sprint. Destribois and Kanerva are through next.
Sterbini has already been dropped from the peloton!
Destribois wins the next KOM sprint to move to 8 points. Gayral and Kanerva also pick up points.
Destribois wins the next KOM as well and moves into the lead with 13 points. Van Garderen is 2nd here and now has 8 points. Uwizeyimana takes 3rd. Doull has been dropped from the break.
Doull is caught with 53 kilometers left.
There is a split in the pack...
Kaczmarek (GC 11th), Sivakov (21st), Barbio (27th) and 13 others are in A1, trailing by a minute.
Goos (32nd) and 21 others are in A2, a further 45 seconds behind.
Spilak (33rd), Jungels (30th) and more are in A3, another 30 seconds in arrears.
A1 above make it back to the peloton with 46 kilometers left.
With 40 kilometers to go, it is Kraftwerk and Binance doing all of the chasing in the pack. They trail the break by 1'37".
Van Garderen wins the intermediate sprint ahead of Brkic and Dahl-Olsen.
The gap to the peloton has increased again to 2'57". The slowing peloton has swelled back in size to 130+ riders.
Grossschartner is dropped with 18 kilometers left.
Dahl-Olsen suffers the same fate a kilometer later.
Brkic wins the final KOM sprint with Destribois in 2nd and Van Garderen in 3rd.
The peloton's gap is back down to 1'17". Only 42 riders remain. Spilak and Goos have been dropped again.
Paulinho attacks with 10 kilometers to go.
The resulting acceleration drops GC leader Zmorka, who's struggling now! GC positions 2 through 6 are in the peloton up ahead. Dyball (GC 8th) and Mullen (10th) are also in this group. Viviani is further behind.
Boily, Gebreigzabhier, Gesink (18th), Landa, Ssabagwanya, Senni and Mattews are dropped from the pack with 8 kilometers to go.
Kaczmarek (GC 11th) is dropped next 2 kilometers later and caught by the Gesick group.
Up ahead, Gayral has been dropped by the break.
Five riders remain at the front of the race with 4 kilometers to go. They lead by 1'20" to Paulinho and 1'51" to the peloton. A1 is a further minute behind.
Paulinho catches Gayral with 3 kilometers to go. Izagirre and Wirtgen have attacked from the pack.
1 kilometer to go for the break where Uwizeyimana leads them. All other riders not in this group have now been caught by the peloton, who trail by 1'26". 42 riders remain.
Izagirre attacks again!
Up ahead, with 500 meters to go, Van Garderen has taken the lead. Kanerva has been dropped.
Van Garderen is away with 200 meters left and no one has a response.
He celebrates inside the final 100 meters...
...and takes the stage win! Van Garderen picked the perfect stage to join the break and makes up somewhat for an otherwise disappointing race.
22 seconds later, Uwizeyimana comes to the line to take second.
A bit further back, Brkic outsprints Destribois to claim 3rd on the day.
Kanerva finishes 5th, 45 seconds behind.
Wirtgen leads the pack home in 6th ahead of Moazemi.
Fraile outsprints Oliveira and Dennis to 8th. Izagirre just misses the Top 10, after a couple of attacks in the closing stages.
Ganna, who was 2nd in the GC overnight comes to the line in 12th with the same time. So does Kung. It's now a wait to see where Zmorka ends up.
Unfortunately for the Ukrainian, he loses nearly 2 minutes today to the peloton and has to give up his leader's jersey.
Today's winner - Tejay Van Garderen.
Van Garderen wins the stage ahead of Uwizeyimana and Brkic. The strong break played their cards well to hold out till the end.
