The one stage that is slightly different from the others in that it's not a stage littered with Mountains. However, it's one that will heavily favour the climbers. 15.3km alone, against the clock, the majority of which is uphill as the riders ascend the Coll d'Ordino. A real opportunity for the best climbers and those more well-rounded to right any wrongs from the earlier stages.
Moreno Hernandez is one of the better climbers early on and sets a time of 40'27.
Aranburu sets the new best time of 38'51 which may be more of an indication of what times we'll see.
Costagli thrashes the best times with a 37'29.
Bernal can only move into 2nd, + 26".
Guldhammer has had a disappointing time here and it continues as he is provisional 7th @ + 55".
Atapuma with a pretty solid performance for 8th @ + 1'03.
Padun is only + 1'19.
Arndt is + 1'12.
Latour is very disappointing as he is only + 1'12.
Roson would have expected to struggle and he does with + 1'46.
Keizer may be the Dutch TT Champion but it's not a win for him today as he is provisional 3rd @ + 27".
Henao Montoya with a surprisingly good performance as he is provisional 2nd @ + 26".
Penasa then moves into 2nd @ + 24".
Amador is a strong all-rounder but it's not his day today as he is provisional 6th @ 32".
Carthy puts in a good performance and sets the new fastest time by 5 seconds of 37'23.
Alarcon would rightfully be disappointed with his efforts in the Mountains so far but maybe today's the day he turns it around as he smashes Carthy's time with a 36'55!
His time doesn't last long though as Pluchkin beats it with a 36'37! He'd be hoping to move up the Top 10 with that one.
Shikai is provisional 5th @ + 1'04.
Carapaz with a similar ride to Shikai as he is new 5th @ + 1'02.
Nerz has a shocking day! He is overtaken by Monsalve before the line and ends up + 2'43.
Monsalve is 7th @ + 1'14.
Schelling is provisional 9th @ + 1'17 and should hold onto his Top 5.
Oomen takes provisional 3rd with a very decent performance @ + 25".
Quintana won't be happy with himself there as can only manage + 1'15.
Wellens will hold onto Yellow but it'll be much closer going into tomorrow. He is 6th on the stage @ + 52".
Our stage winner today, with a very good performance, is Aleksandr Pluchkin who really needed this ride. Alarcon takes 2nd which he also needed to bring some momentum into the final stage tomorrow. Oomen with a great ride for 3rd while Carthy managed 4th. The surprise performance of the day came from Costagli who finished 5th on the day but led for quite some time.
Wellens actually extends his lead to 2nd but there are a lot more riders closer to Yellow than previously. Oomen switches spots with Quintana. Pluchkin moves up from 9th to 4th and is within striking distance for tomorrow. Not too many other movements other than Alarcon going from 10th up to 7th.
Wellens still leads the Points. Anguilet remains in KOM lead with no points distributed today. Bernal back in U25 lead but by only 16 seconds so that'll be a good side battle to follow tomorrow. Team UBS hold onto their lead in the Teams.
