I think this would apply to at least PCM 2020 or 21 as there's a simplify way form the new PCM to plan your season ahead.
I think people are going way to crazy about planning the season from the day 1 all the way to the end of the season and this is taking much of the fun out the planning phase(s) and I use a (s) as there is 3 phases per season and 4 calendar inscription phase per season.
I think we should put ourselves in the head of the devlopper en embrace planning the way it is designed to be.
Let's go with some of my thought :
1. Decide your leader objective at the begining of the season as they influence each other fitness curve. There's only 3 per leader.
2. If some exception are needed (teammate being leader for one race) plan also at the begining.
3. Choose your teammate and use the same group from the begining of the year and copy the same setup through the whole year. If you have made some exception (see point 2) then leave them out.
4. Cycle through indivudal in objective tab and hit refresh in the fitness graph to update fitness plan.
5. This is the pain in the neck part that I transform to a FUN part. ONLY PLAN RACE INSCRIPTION FOR THE FIRST QUARTER. ONLY PLAN SCHEDULE RIDER RACE FOR THE FIRST QUARTER. ONLY DO IT FOR YOUR LEADER AND COPY YOUR SCHEDULE TO YOUR (REAL TEAMMATE, 1,2 OR 3) THAT REALLY HAVE AN IMPACT ON SUPPORTING YOUR LEADER ATTRIBUTE. THE REST ARE DOMESTIQUE, DON'T MAKE ANY PLANINIG FOR THOSE.
6. You will get a e-mail reminder 2 months ahead of the next quarter for race inscription...REPEAT every quarter.
Doing this you will have fill out the race schedule with 3 to 6 rider per race and it won't take hours to do so...And you will be doing it through the whole season.
You just have to pick domestique to fill out the empty space for every race JUST BEFORE every race start.
Don't hesitate to comment.

But I generally agree, I reckon you can get away with doing even less, I've always been a very lazy planner. (PCM 20 Leader objectives should be pretty straightforward and I don't do much more than that at the start of the season. I mostly decide right before a race who else is going.
Fatigue will build up sooner or later and while it's a bother I check everybody at least twice a season on the planner page and make adjustments as necessary. Easier for me to do it "on the fly" rather than planning ahead.
