My game crashes almost every time I try to play 3D. I have the performance mod installed, the graphics set on the minimum, including 800x600 resolution, and have some of the boxes checked so the game is easier on the computer (such as less rider animations). Here is my estimated crash ratio:
20% - game crashes as the bar reaches full on the load
30% - 3d loads, but crashes as soon as the riders start moving
10% - game crashes randomly on 1x or 2x setting
30% - game crashes on 4x or 8x setting
9% - game crashes after race is finished, while loading the podiums
1% - success
Needless to say, the game has a much higher chance of succeeding if the race has a small amount of riders and teams in it.
So my question is, does anyone have any inventive ways to try to make the game more likely to not crash? Thanks

I'll get them to you, but thats not the point, I'm just wondering if there are any tricks to lightening the memory load.
P.S.: When the game crashes I get a blue-screen, and I have to shut the computer down |

I know the faulty component, it is called PCM08. You can install the patch, but I guess you already have done so.
If you have Windows vista, make sure that you have installed SP1. If you have an old computer you should update the driver for your graphics card. |

Blue screens happen alot when your memory is fried, or at least almost done. PCM uses a lot of memory and often screws pcs with bad memory.
I had to buy 2gb new ram to replace the old 1gb one, because it was obviously dead |

Must blue screens are directly RAM problems, though a minority can also be due to a faulty motherboard.
On the subject of using a lot of RAM, yesterday while making a management game stage report, i used 2.6GB of RAM on PCM06, iTunes, a dozen of IE7 tabs, Paint.Net with a lot of pictures opened and the Steam service too. And Windows Vista.

Okay, let me clear this up, the blue screen occurs anytime PCM crashes, other than that the computer is fine |
