It's another opportunity for the Sprinters here. After yesterday, there are a number who will be wanting to do better. It could well be their last chance for success as tomorrow's stage looks too tough for them and then we're into the Mountains.
Similar favourites list yet again. Who will prevail this time around?
Still no established breakaway as we crest the first climb. This is mainly due to riders close in the GC wanting the KOM points. Zakarin came late but took Bernas on the line. Zakarin moves back into the lead.
121km remaining and we finally have a breakaway of 3 riders out front with a lead of just over 2 minutes. Kanerva and Stannard are joined by Bernas who is really struggling along but he's committed to the KOM.
Stannard is adjudged to have won the 2nd KOM sprint of the day.
It's very close yet again but this time it's Kanerva who takes maximum points. Bernas moves within 5 points of the lead.
Smart from the trio as they don't waste their energy on the intermediate sprint. Their lead with 77km remaining is only 2'25.
The gap now down to 1'20 with 43km still to go. Quite a few teams working on the front to ensure this is decided by a sprint.
It's the final KOM sprint of the day and, once again, it's very close between these 2. Kanerva just takes it though.
The Peloton make the catch with 12km to go. A lot of fans out and about today!
4km now remaining and it's Huski on the front again working for Van Poppel. Cullaigh has the support of Hayter. Amaysim are the only other team in here with support, looking after Enger. Individuals are mixed in here including the likes of Boudat, Cavendish and Santos.
Two lines of riders here jostling for positions with 2.5km to go.
2km and it's Hayter who goes quite early with Cullaigh following. Van Poppel is alone and works to get the wheel of the Brit in front of him. All others biding their time.
Ummm Hayter, I think you're forgetting someone!! Cullaigh has decided it's too early and slows down to conserve his energy.
Cavendish then launches the sprint on the right-hand side as we go under the kite.
Cavendish still in the lead with 600m to the finish. Santos looks to be in a pretty good position though. A lot of work to do for Cullaigh and Van Poppel.
Only 200m to go and it's still Cavendish holding on! Enger looks to have the best chance to get him if he can make a big push to the line.
But he leaves his run too late! Cavendish is a prolific winner and he's timed it well today which was the difference in the end! Enger is only just behind him but has to accept 2nd place.
The rest of the top 5 is very tight. Santos takes 3rd, Stepniak is 4th ahead of Lovassy in 5th. Cullaigh and Van Poppel won't be too happy with their teams today as they end up 6th and 7th.
Andersen still in Yellow after 5 stages which certainly wasn't expected but his team will be happy with that. All likelihood is that tomorrow is finally the day he loses it but who knows?!
Zakarin reclaims the KOM jersey.
