Cougar Mountain Classic
SportingNonsense
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar1.png

The break today was Iman Suparman, Zahary, Rajala, Piamonte and Griffith
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar2.png

Halfway through the race Roger Hammond lit things up in the peleton by attacking
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar3.png

Lindgren, Danielson and Criel tried to follow but could not as Hammond pulled out a gap
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar4.png

Hammond could never really pull out a large gap though, reaching the climb once again
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar5.png

Hincapie, Stalder, Pomer, Randell, Leukemens and Criel then gapped the other riders of the peleton in the descent
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar6.png

Hammond caught up with the early breakaway
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar7.png

But the Brit made the mistake of sitting in their wheels and was caught by the Hincapie/Leukemens group on the next ascent of the climb
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar8.png

George Hincapie then launched an attack
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar9.png

He quickly gained a big gap
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar10.png

Leukemens also got away, but is 1'40 behind Hincapie already
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar11.png

Hincapie extended his advantage over Leukemens, while Leukemens also pulled away from everyone else.

Slipstream then took command in what looks like the battle for 3rd as Cozza, Lewis, Duggan, Caldwell, Frischkorn and Howes got a gap
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar12.png

In the penultimate ascent of the climb, Hincapie has nearly 3 minutes on Leukemens
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar13.png

The Slipstream TTT has quickly diminished though, it was down to Howes and Frischkorn before Frischkorn went solo
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar14.png

But then disaster for Frischkorn as he punctures
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar15.png

Frischkorn was therefore caught by the chase group, but undeterred, he got away again with Howes and Procycling's Adam Blythe. Howes is soon dropped though
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar16.png

Hincapie's gap is over 3 minutes on the final climb
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar23.png

So, the first 2 places are secure - but the battle is hotting up for 3rd. Astarloa, Lowik, Backstedt and Hammond look to be closing down on Blythe and Frischkorn
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar17.png

But Frischkorn and Blythe pulled away again in the descent
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar18.png

Time to go straight to the finish though, as George Hincapie celebrates a huge victory
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar24.png

Leukemens takes 2nd
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar19.png

So now the battle for 3rd. Blythe v Frischkorn
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar20.png

Blythe comfortably takes it
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/MG09/cougar21.png

While Gerben Lowik outsprints Magnus Backstedt for 5th
