197.2km of Pro Tour racing welcomes us in Belgium.
The media favourites are very much the same as those we have already discussed. The question remains as to whether this will be decided by a reduced uphill group sprint or a lone attack.
As the riders navigate the town streets early on, it's a bit of a mess as there are riders all over the place trying to get into the break of the day.
155km to go. We have a breakaway of 13 riders that has a lead of 53 seconds over Cherkasov and then a further 2'41 to the Peloton. Our 13 leaders are:
Quintana
Kipkemboi
Dlamini
Paillot
Shalunov
Cabrera
Christensen
Kamna, Zimmermann
Vingegaard
Vanbilsen
Eenkhoorn
Koshevoy
The breakaway cross the finish line for the first time with 123km to go. Their gap back to the Peloton is 3'08. Cherkasov is now closer to the Peloton than the lead group.
62km to go and a number of teams working at the front of the Peloton. They are 2'12 behind the breakaway of 12. Vingegaard had a puncture and found himself in no man's land but will soon be swept up by the Peloton.
48km to go and we begin the climbs. The Cote De Bousalle looks to be a splitting point for the Peloton with 84 riders now detached from the 77 in front of them.
40km to go now. In this group which has been dropped and look very unlikely to play an important part in this race are:
Preidler
Bettiol
Novak
Van Niekerk
35km to go and the peloton is somewhat together again as riders are strewn out all over the finishing climb. The breakaway, now down to 10, has a 1'36 lead over the front of the Peloton.
22km remaining and the breakaway has a 1 minute lead. It's Seibeb leading the Peloton at the moment and putting in the work.
19km to go and a brutal bit of work from Carboni and Mannion has brought the Peloton up to the breakaway.
13km to go and the first signs of aggression come from the favourites! De Bie is the aggressor, the first to react are Bobridge, Lutsenko and Formolo.
10km to go now. This is the view from the 3rd group on the road who need someone to take up chasing duties. The situation looks like this:
3km to go and it looks as if Group Lopez has made the catch but Sagan can't quite get the wheel of Lutsenko.
Just behind them, Koretzky has dragged his group onto the tail of the front 7.
1.5km now to go. The front 3 still holding the first 3 positions but they may have some competition coming from behind.
They come under the kite and Bobridge looks to have cracked! It appears to be between De Bie and Lutsenko for the win. Sagan and Mohoric are best placed to battle for the podium.
700m. It's still our lead 2. Mohoric now in prime position to take 3rd as Sagan seems to have cracked. Trakhov looking strong though!
Further back, Vakoc also looks very strong as he leaves his earlier companions in his wake.
500m and De Bie is riding away from Lutsenko and is on his way to victory!
Mohoric has lost his solid grip on 3rd as Vakoc has come from deep at pace.
100m now for De Bie. IT'S BECOME NAILBITING STUFF THOUGH AS VAKOC IS GOING LIKE A ROCKET!!
BUT HE LEAVES IT A BIT TOO LATE AS DE BIE HOLDS ON FOR THE WIN BY THE NARROWEST OF MARGINS!!! Vakoc deserves the credit for making this one interesting at the end and he takes a well-deserved 2nd.
Lutsenko didn't quite have the legs to compete with the Belgian today but he still ends up on the podium.
In the battle for 4th-6th, Mohoric looks the best for it right now.
And the battle for the rest of the Top 10 will be between these 8. No one looking too great at the moment compared to the others.
And indeed it's Mohoric who takes 4th. Sagan recovered somewhat for 5th while Trakhov rode a very strong race for 6th.
It's then Buchmann 7th, Yates 8th, Formolo 9th and Bobridge, who looked so good earlier, in 10th.
Koretzky finishes just outside the Top 10 while Lopez will be wondering where it all went wrong today as he comes in 12th ahead of Areruya and Ulissi.
Gidich comes in 15th ahead of Waeytens. Supulveda, like his team mate, finishes strongly for 17th.
A reminder of our winner. He won in AGR and he's won again here at home in Fleche Wallone. Aegon will have plenty to celebrate tonight with their star man. The real question is though, can he carry this confidence and this form into the much anticipated Liege - Bastogne - Liege?
