The final stage! It`s less hilly and up and down as day 1 but the final climb therefore the longest in this race and so the officials expect the hybrids doing better than pure puncheurs. Pure climbers though not highly rated, which is not good news for RedBull and their duo.
Keizer vs Brändle vs Bobridge vs Beltran ???
Can any other jump into the fight? Spilak, Uran, Kwiatkowski, Slagter or Masnada maybe?
Also the KoM fight is alive. And no other than the 1-2 attack early on.
Hacecky reduces the gap to Ivanov a bit but it`s still 46 vs 30.
10 riders in the group. Still those 2 but also 8 more:
Fernandez
Lafay
Dillier
Vansevenant
Vink
Ramos Ticona (25th, +2'55)
Bystrom
Juul-Jensen
Ivanov takes the next climb ahead of Ramos Ticona. So extending his gap easily, whereas the UBS rider maybe should focus on the GC instead as best placed rider?
Same picture though the next climb. Hacecky apparently not able to really give him a challenge here.
Around half time after all those hills early on, only 3 riders remain in the first group.
Ivanov, Ramos Ticona and Juul-Jensen, whereas his team mate Hacecky is just a bit behind and Lafay a bit more.
All others back in the peloton at around 2'30, which means, Ramos Ticona still high up in top5 GC virtually.
Sauber working a lot behind. Slagter must really have good legs again and being confident to move up in GC. Also Popo4ever showing numbers for likely Prevar. And then the obvious teams of high placed riders, though, no Red Bull.
With 17km to go the break is over already. They are all caught and the favourite teams made it clear to really fight for it today. No chance for surprises.
Ackermann working right now, so it can only be Prevar or Topchanyuk for Popo4ever today.
We move into the climb. 4km left, already 8% steep.
Kwiatkowski being far up in 3rd place behind some helpers.
Also Bobridge right behind him with Kelderman and Beltran with him.
Poljanski, Eiking, Prevar, Craddock, Uran, Keizer, Slagter, Rosskopf, Aranburu, Warbasse, Roe, Laengen, Brändle, Masnada, Spilak not too far behind but actually the further the list, the more riders blocking in the way.
Aker`s leadership is clear. Laengen might be the better placed and he has a free role, but Kwiatkowski still is the leader.
He attacks with 3,3km to go from pretty far out.
Sauber`s Putti trying to keep the pace up but doesn`t have the power. Bobridge and Kelderman next in the line. No Red Bull now neither.
Kelderman being the one closing the gap now just a few hundred meters in.
But the Philips leader clearly having reached his limits here and seems to drop, whereas Kwiatkowski can still go faster and widens the gap again.
Now Sauber moving up as also Cedevita. Beltran already in the first position while Slagter still has Grossschartner ahead.
The Red Bull duo in 20th position and struggling?
1,4km and Beltran has reduced the gap to Kwiatkowski. Behind him Ackermann, who still is on a strong ride but having worked a lot.
Flamme Rouge and behind a few gaps open up.
Kwiatkowski still leading but just 8s to Beltran/Slagter.
4 Red Bull riders in total in the first rows but no one able to really higher the pace.
Instead Spilak or Masnada has moved up now trying to do something. Also Prevar, Bobrdige, Kelderman, Rosskopf and the Carlsberg riders up there.
Biggest name missing is Uran really at this point being a bit further behind.
600m and Kwiatkowski is caught. Beltran looking still pretty good while Slagter seems to fight already.
All 3 of them need as much time as possible and the gap behind is still not as big which is mainly down to Bralirwa working hard for Rosskopf!
Though with 300m to go Beltran really gives it all and starts the uphill sprint. Kwiatkowski trying to counter while Slagter has a small gap.
It`s one of the steepest sections with 9,5% and gaps can still open up here easily.
2/2 hill stages won. Beltran has no time to celebrate going all-in till the line.
He will gain 7s on Kwiatkowski today, who showed up at least. 15s to Slagter, who again was pretty strong. All 3 of them will move up in the GC but how far?
Spilak leads in the next group with a late push though he is even gaining a bit of time as he is giving a 6s gap. 25s for him, 31s for the others.
Brändle as also Keizer, Bobridge and most others are in there. GC wise this means though that with gaps and bonus seconds Beltran moves past them all and not only winning the stage but also the GC. With 2 stage wins he clearly was the strongest here.
Though double Red Bull on the podium then ahead of Bobridge.
Slagter up to 5th is excellent result really as well for him ahead of Laengen, Roe, Craddock, Masnada and then Spilak! Warbasse and Kwiatkowski just outside the top10 just like Rosskopf as 13th.
Biggest riders missing out are Uran and Zoidl. Both finish in the next bigger group at 1'06 and drop behind a bit. Same for Haga.
Also Thill, 12th before the stage dropping back a lot losing more than 3min today.
