The time trial route departs from Athens and heads along the Greek coast. The clear favourite today is Vlatos, but can he deliver?
Tzortzakis, Spilak and Tvetcov were the three strongest early starters.
Polychronis Tzortzakis is the fastest of the three. 45 secpnds clear of Tvetcov, and just over a minute ahead of Spilak.
They look to have ridden a very strong rider, as with only 1 rider left to come through the first checkpoint, they still hold the three fastest times. Did conditions favour them early on?
That last rider through the checkpoint is of course Panagiotis Vlatos.
He does go fastest, but only by a second.
Other later starters are Stimulak (6th), Nechita (7th) and Stoenchev (10th).
Through to the 2nd checkpoint, Vlatos has extended his lead and it could well be a Greek 1-2, despite Stimulak moving up to 3rd, and improvements also from Nechita, Stoenchev and Penko.
But something must be shifting in the conditions as suddenly riders are finishing very strongly.
Penko has taken the fastest time, flipping more than a minute's disadvantage to Tzortzakis at the 2nd checkpoint, to a lead of over 30 seconds at the finish. An incredible shift.
Penultimate Slovenian starter Groselj has gone 3rd at the finish too - despite having not even cracked the Top 20 best times at the first checkpoint.
The fast finishes continue to roll in. Crncevic matching Groselj's time and securing a guaranteed Top 10 result for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Borisavljevic goes 2nd behind Penko.
Nechita goes fastest! With a lead of 1'10.
Stoenchev can't beat him, taking 2nd place.
Stimulak is in with a new fastest time, 10 seconds better than Nechita. He had been 30 seconds behind Tzortzakis at the 2nd checkpoint, but is 1'54 ahead at the finish. There's a clue in the image that he isn't about to win though.
Panagiotis Vlatos has delivered the goods. Nearly catching Stimulak, for a winning margin of 1'50.
