Being a favorite in the cobbles

How do I deal with being one of the favorites in the cobbles? I'm playing PCM 20 v1.6.2.0 pro cyclist mode with a northern classics guy. I'm not even a 3 star favorite yet no other team would want to work with me, so it's basically me vs everyone else. My team is not the best in cobbles so I couldn't really control the field.
