Well like smoothie, i need to run internet up to my room (about 100 feet away from my router) with a cat 5 cord. I figured it wouldn't be very hard, just run the cord to my computer but my dad says that after about 50 feet the cord loses signal. And said i need a splitter aswell? no idea what a splitter is, any help?

that's what i figured, he means well just doesn't know as much as he thinks?

Ah, ive done some research and i learned more about it, what i meant was a switch, looks like ill have one within the week and will be able to host/play online again

I have to say having the 30 Meter cable makes my interent a LOT faster. wireless was crap before. |

I suppose it depends on your router type but I use an alternate to long cables that works just as well and doesnt get in the way.

One plug is plugged in at the wall and connected to the router itself downstairs, while the other is plugged upstairs in my room and then connected to my Laptop.
