I have HUGE problems setting up sprints in this game. It's absolutely the most difficult thing for me to do in this game. Setting up a sprint train is what I mean. I am playing for Team Columbia on hard setting. I feel like im not doing Cavendish any justice. On good days he comes in 15th at the highest. What the hell am I doing wrong? I usually try setting up the sprint about 23-20k to the finish. I tell the riders I want to lead the sprint to go on infinite relay at 90% at that time. Then when it comes time I put Cavendish and (in my case) Kirchen on follow of the back of the train. Then when its about 10k away or when people start to pass me I bump their infinite relay up to 99%. I drop off riders that are dying of fatigue and everything. They usually just get passed by another team thats going like 4km/h faster than me and I usually try to peel off Cavendish and Kirchen onto that train but they usually either die of fatigue or just wind up coming 15-25th. I have all the riders on 99% when following. Normal/Aggressive. I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS!! Can anyone help me??
Put the front rider on the dot, then let the next guy "sprint follow" him, let the third guy "sprint follow" the second and so on. The first guys should be a very good flat rider, the second a capable sprinter and then your super-sprinter (experiences can vary).
Let your flat guy pull up to the sprint mark, then sprint - when he has nothing left in his sprint bar (pink bar in the sprint panel) let the second guy sprint and finally your super-sprinter.
Sounds to me like you're leading out too early, trops.
First off, you need good flat riders to lead the peloton in the closing stages. Then you have to make sure they don't run out of energy too soon.
You're better off not going on relay at the front, imo. Try to arrange it so you've got your guys near the front at the 13k mark, then send your 'weakest' strong rider onto relay. Set your other guys to follow him in order of strength with your sprinter at the back obviously.
When your weakest strong guy is in the paceline, wait until he's 3 or 4 riders from the front if you can and then put him on dot. If he's good enough he should slowly move up past the other guys relaying.
The riders set to follow him will automatically go after him. Then it's a case of dropping your front rider off when he's lost too much energy and letting the second rider take over dot duties after that.
If it works properly, the second last man should be in position to sprint from 3k, and your sprinter should come round him in the final 1k to easily win the stage.
However, you need the right riders to do it - ie high flat scores.
