Startlist:
Spoiler Taaramäe | Rein | Aker - MOT | Kangert | Tanel | Gazelle | Laas | Martin | Team Popo4Ever p/b Nemiroff | Räim | Mihkel | DK - SVA Zalgiris | Tarvis | Peeter | Isostar - Specialized | Pruus | Peter | Aker - MOT | Nommela | Aksel | Tryg - Ritter Sport | Kiskonen | Siim | Duolingo | Kalf | Steven | Tryg - Ritter Sport | Vahtra | Norman | Duolingo | Lauk | Karl Patrick | Polar | Johanson | Kristjan | Tryg - Ritter Sport |
The cobbled route makes this a really wide open race. Almost anyone on the startlist could win on the right day.
8 riders have made a selection after the second cobbled sector:
Nommela
Kiskonen
Kalf
Räim
Vahtra
Tarvis
Pruus
Lauk
A few others are trying to make it across. There's no real impetus in front, but the riders behind are mostly amateurs or uninterested.
Räim puts in a hard dig on the final cobbles sector, trying to crack his rivals!
He pulls 3 others away. Nommela, Kiskonen, and Kalf are with him.
The pace slows and the others are getting back in as they prepare for the sprint.
Räim launches the sprint from the front. He's the fastest on paper, but he also attacked earlier.
Nommela on his right, Kiskonen on his left.
Räim is fading, and Kalf is gaining speed behind in the final 200 meters. It will be neck and neck.
Nommela started to fade just at the very end, but he is able to hold on an take the Estonian jersey! Kiskonen follows, with Kalf in third.
[spoiler]1 | Aksel Nommela | Tryg - Ritter Sport | 1h15'26 | 2 | Siim Kiskonen | Duolingo | s.t. | 3 | Steven Kalf | Tryg - Ritter Sport | s.t. | 4 | Mihkel Räim | DK - SVA Zalgiris | s.t. | 5 | Peeter Tarvis | Isostar - Specialized | s.t. | 6 | Norman Vahtra | Duolingo | s.t. | 7 | Karl Patrick Lauk | Polar | s.t. | 8 | Peter Pruus | Aker - MOT | s.t. | 14 | Tanel Kangert | Gazelle | s.t. | 17 | Martin Laas | Team Popo4Ever p/b Nemiroff | + 7'50 | 109 | Rein Taaramäe | Aker - MOT | + 11'25 |
This should just be a formality for Taaramäe. Kangert is the only possible challenger if daily form goes his way.
As you can see, Taaramäe did his job. He almost catches Kangert, beating the runner-up by 1'37''.
