Greece is obviously Festina country, but there’s one other sprinter here that might spoil the party, and that is Berg Cycle’s Tzortzakis. Still, Bouglas is the top favorite for the sprint, although Karatzios and Berg’s second weapon, Kortsidakis could get away with a late attack.

No late attacks though, so right into the final 3km we go. Festina is playing this terribly at this point: Bouglas is already in second position behind Vlatos on the right, followed by Soulious, Tzortzakis and Stavrakakis. Karatzios and Kastrantas meanwhile charge to the front on the left, taking Kortsidakis and Vila with them. Farantakis, who you’d peg as the main leadout men, lingers just outside the frame.
Vlatos is completely empty, seemingly just keeping himself upright, which slows all the sprinters behind him down and allows Karatzios, Kastrantas and Kortsidakis to break free.
Finally, Farantakis comes around on the right side and takes Bouglas and Soulious with him. Vlatos does one last deed for the team and blocks Tzortzakis from joining them. But could the leading trio be too far gone already? What a messy affair!
At the front, Kortsidakis makes his move. He is the best sprinter in this group.
And there’s no stopping him! Festina is beaten, Michail Kortsidakis is the new Greek Champion! Bouglas wins the sprint from the pack easily, but it’s only for fourth place.

Greek Championships - ITT
While the road race got away from them, the time trial should be an easy Festina win for Vlatos.
There are a few riders vying for the Top 5 spots behind the presumed three podium finishers. Farantakis has the best day among them, he finishes with a time of 1h03’01.
At the first checkpoint, Vlatos has already put 40 seconds between himself and Tzortzakis, this likely won’t be particularly close.
Ioannidis overtakes Soulious on his way to the finish. Only a few seconds were between him and Tzortzakis at the checkpoints, who’s going to finish second?
Tzortzakis has the upper hand by 18 seconds - silver for him.
Because gold obviously belongs to this guy: Pangonios Vlatos dominates the race and defends his title.
