Unsurprisingly, Tinkoff has the strength in numbers here with 20 of the 33 riders participating, as well as the top favorite in Samolenkov. Not many sprinters here to challenge him, but Maksimov and maybe CT draftee Boev have a shot.

No pros in the break of the day and for a while it looked like we were headed for a clean sprint finish, but then Nych attacks with 3,5 kilometers to go, just as Samolenkov was being set up on the left there. Kolesnikov goes after the Polar rider to cover the move for Tinkoff.
Kurianov, Ilnur Zakarin and Sulimov join what now looks like a promising move. In the remaining peloton, only 14 riders strong, Samolenkov is well positioned with Maksimov and Boev right behind him, but first they need to catch these escapees.
Trakhov almost closes the gap with a massive effort. 1,9 kilometers to go, Samolenkov follows Manakov into the finale.
But the breakaway hasn’t given up just yet and they sprint on the left, only Nych is gone. Manakov struggles to bring the sprinters closer, Samolenkov has to take over soon.
Both he and Maksimov launch with just around 700 meters to go, usually that’s decent timing. Zakarin and Kurianov lose steam on the left, Kolesnikov is still doing well on the right.
Maksimov and Samolenkov go side by side into the final 200 meters, Boev doesn’t seem to be able to go past them. Who’ll take this?
Roman Maksimov is your new Russian Champion! A big blow for home team Tinkoff, but one v one, not much of an upset.

Russian Championships - ITT
The only question today is which Tinkoff rider takes the crown. Yatsevich, Kritskiy and Vorobev are the main favorites.
In the onslaught of early Tinkoff riders, Vlasov and Sivakov do well. Tied at both checkpoints, they still are at the finish but Sivakov is given the lead.
Which barely lasts a few minutes, then Vorobev comes along and beats both by more than half a minute, currently setting the best time at 1h04’52
Razumov is the only non-Tinkoff rider here with a chance at even a Top 5. And he’s on pace for that at the moment, coming second to Vorobev at the line, + 1’10
Three more contenders are left on the road. The first is Zakarin, who has the Duolingo rider in sight as he heads for the finish. It’s a good time that secures him a medal today, new best time at 1h04’41
Kritskiy is next, he had his teammate beat at both checkpoints and carries that advantage to the finish, taking the hot seat by 25 seconds.
But Kiril Yatsevich lives up to his role as the main favorite and wins the race by 19 seconds!
