This really should be a two horse race between Phinney and Dombrowski. They’re in a tier of their own, but with a well-timed attack, one of the others may have a chance, since both have only one teammate to control the race.

Mostly thanks to McCormick, the pace is pretty high and the pros are among themselves on the first long ascent already.
McCormick have done a tremendous job to reduce the main group, now it’s up to Kuss to finish the job. He follows the acceleration by Warbasse, as do Dombrowski, Brandt and Phinney right behind him. 4 kilometers to go.
The aforementioned five lead the final group of 10 into the final 2 kilometers. Now Phinney accelerates!
Kuss, Dombrowski and Barta follow, Warbasse seems done after his initial attack. Just over a kilometer to go.
These four are clearly the strongest. Dombrowski draws level with Phinney onto the final stretch.
It’s an incredibly tight race between the two top favorites, Phinney has the slightest advantage.
And he takes it! Taylor Phinney is the new US American Champion. Dombrowski is second, Kuss third, justifying his team’s courageous performance. Barta with a good fourth place, Warbasse finishes as best of the rest 23 seconds later.

US Championships - ITT
Phinney is going for the double and it’s hard to see anyone stopping him. But the fight for the other medals should be interesting, at least.
Sebright is out on the road early, his time will be the measuring stick for all other ambitious riders at 1h00’12
Teammate Craddock comes closest, he’s a single second slower.
Barton is provisional third, 42 seconds off the lead. The third Glanbia rider, Brandt comes in fourth shortly afterwards.
Daniel held the lead at the first two checkpoints, he was even 38 seconds faster than Sebright at the second, but that flips completely, the Isostar rider is 33 seconds behind him at the finish, third place right now. Looks like Sebright had a tremendous final sector.
Phinney comes through the second checkpoint just 19 seconds ahead of Daniel, but 58 ahead of Sebright. That should be enough, right? But times for the final sector are all over the place.
After most of the stage racers finish without making much of a dent ( Warbasse as 8th was the best of them), Powless does a little better to finish provisional 6th.
Eaton matches him to the second, but slips ahead into 6th place himself.
With Sebright and Craddock still 1-2, Glanbia is guaranteed two riders in the Top 3 - can Cruz top his teammates? No, but he makes it a 1-2-3 for now, coming in third, 21 seconds off the lead. But we already see the man behind him …
… and that’s Taylor Phinney, who destroys any hopes of a Glanbia title and takes the double championship for himself! Almost a minute ahead of everyone else.
