Question about gameplay

Good evening! No longer playing since PCM2013, I want to buy PCM2017, but first I need some information. How has the game evolved - mainly in terms of gameplay - between these two versions? I want to talk about the behavior of the AI in particular: is it finer tactically, more unpredictable? Does it sometimes let backpackers win Grand Tours stages, as in the 2013 version (fairly well balanced from this point of view)? Etc.
