Morning All,
I'm a bit of an armchair data scientist, and just picked up PCM 2021 after not playing since PCM 2017.
Does anyone know of a way to get data exported from within the game so that I can analyze my team better?
For a start - what's the best way to read what's inside the various .cdb files?
Second (and this might not be possible), is there any race data stored (or training data I guess), which tracks individual riders throughout a race, or throughout a season?
I'm not trying to mod the game right now, rather, I'm trying to manage my team as if it were more realistic ... i.e.
"Benoot fitness was at 78% for this race, and really lost time on the hills", or "these 2 riders really excelled as a pair when breaking away".
I'm not sure what's possible yet, first I want to see what data I can extract and then see if that gives any insights into running my team better.
Most likely it's going to be ... "Riders with a Hill skill of more than x perform best on this stage of this race", etc. etc.
Anybody know where to start? Decoding the .cdb files looks like my best bet, but they're not easily readable.
Ok, so a little bit of googling and I'm busy looking around PCM DBEdit and PCMCE 21 from https://davydepuy... This is could be exactly what I'm looking for.
I'll keep you updated if this turns into anything worthwhile.
If you're coming at this from a data science rather than comfortable editing perspective, the Excel Editor might be more suitable for you. Instead of the UI of the DBEdit, you have everything in Excel tables. There are some drawbacks, for instance the DBEdit automatically converts cyclist IDs into their names whereas in the Excel Editor, you frequently have to reference back to DYN_cyclist manually, but it's worth a look at least.
