Tour of America - Stage 6
roturn
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0093.jpg

Sorry, no profiles today, but it`s a flat sprinter stage and so the favourites are Haller, Bennett and co.

A few KoM on the way and so it`s obvious to see a McCormick rider in there again. This time actually KoM leader McNulty himself as pressure got higher and the 1-2-3-4 got upset by in especially Kraftwerk`s Bol due to chasing effort alone.

Veteran and top puncheur Costa though takes the Cat.2 mid day and shows that his skills are superior over young McNulty yet, who got 3rd behind Mahder.
This makes it 19 points for the actual leader.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0104.jpg

The less steep and easier Cat.3 then saw Kangangi passing both Costa and Mahder for the points. The earlier effort of McNulty shows off as he can`t get any more points.

Costa moves up to 2nd with 14 points. Bol still up there in 3rd with 12.

15km and still 50s and the 5 in front are cooperating very well, much better than anything seen yesterday.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0113.jpg

5km and still 30s!
Not even the effort of Kraftwerk`s climbers Kiserlovski, Geniez, Denz, Maillet worked out so far.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0115.jpg

The sprinters still try to take it and it`s right now Kiserlovski in first position, behind him already the first sprinters in Ulanowski, Stepniak, Bogdanovics. The others a bit behind those.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0124.jpg

2,6km and Park has moved up with Haller behind him. Both take a short term behind Kiserlovski, who keeps a high pace but the gap is not getting much smaller.

Ulanowski, Stepniak and co behind them.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0127.jpg

Glanbia opens a 2nd train with King and Bennett as Kiserlovski has done his job.
2km and 24s, it looks to be reduced a bit more actually but time still says, advantage breakaway.

Ulanowski, Bogdanovics, Von Hoff, Stepniak, Vaquera, Young the sprinters behind Haller.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0133.jpg

1,4km and the gap now reduced a lot, still Kangangi has started the sprint with McNulty and co behind him.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0135.jpg

Oh dear...Ulanowski thought, he could keep up the pace but he absolutely cracked when Park accelerated. Immediately there is a gap and all sprinters behind in that line are seeing their chances passing by.

Only Bennett about to challenge Haller now as he had his own train with King.

The breakaway is passed by those two now but the fight for a top10 might still be in. The main goal to take the stage though seems gone.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0137.jpg

Great leadout by both riders. 700m to go Haller takes the lead with Bennett also going past King a bit later only.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0139.jpg

Bennett though can`t keep up as closing the gap to King earlier seems to have cost too much energy and he might even be under pressure of Stepniak, Young, Von Hoff or McNulty on the other side?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0142.jpg

Haller though was easily a class of his own. Not even celebrating despite having enough time here. Stage win no.3, well done and all the team chasing but Nerz in the end was a good decision.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0143.jpg

Young takes 2nd ahead of Von Hoff with Stepniak not able to pass Bennett in the end. The Glanbia sprinter always close but still missing a bit for the bigger coup.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_06_PCM0144.jpg

McNulty not only has defended the KoM but also up to 7th today behind King as best of the former break.
Park, Costa, Kangangi behind. So couple break riders still made the first page of the results.
