Tour of America - Stage 4
roturn
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_04_PCM0178.jpg

Stage 4 is more the pan flat kind of sprinter stage where the difficulties are small and alraedy early or midstage. The sprinter teams should have less struggle to organize on the final 10 kilometers.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_04_PCM0179.jpg

How else could a stage start than an attack by some McCormick/Gjensidige riders. Again McCormick with two including one of the former attackers in McNulty, who could go into the KoM lead today again mixing the team intern solo competition.

And indeed he does exactly this by winning the Cat.3 ahead of Van Moer and Jacobs.
13 points for the young American ahead of Granigans 11 and Eisenhart`s 5.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_04_PCM0188.jpg

Nordica again struggles to find the riders to chase. Basically only Lafay is kind of pure helper here as 6 riders is not enough for a full GT when having a top rider.
Today it`s at least not Ulanowski working, but instead Martinelli. They changed the sprinter order clearly as the Italian wasn`t able to use his opportunity on day 2.
Glanbia with Frame/Ford having proper helpers only for chasing behind just like Kraftwerk with Denz.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_04_PCM0193.jpg

The weather started to get worse towards the finish. Glanbia with 3-4 riders did all to make the catch and with 8km to go, the break is caught again. Sprint no.3 about to happen if no late attack appears.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_04_PCM0195.jpg

The Kraftwerk and Nordica trains somewhat are mixed on the right side of the road. Still they are a bit ahead of the others.

1,5km to go and Park moves onto the left leading out Haller.
Behind Ulanowski has lost Martinelli`s wheel with Stepniak ahead of him.

Glanbia with a late train attempt, though Bennett a bit further behind with Vaquera and Von Hoff also still ahead of him.

Young, Bogdanovics and Ranneries probably out for the day as they are behind some riders moving back such as Lafay.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_04_PCM0212.jpg

700m and Park still in the lead with Haller right behind.
Also Bennett has now found the leadout by King, while Martinelli still doing a long sprint with Stepniak behind.

Ulanowski hard to come back, same for Von Hoff or Vaquera.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_04_PCM0217.jpg

450m only when Haller had to go into the wind. All prepared for stage win no.2?

Martinelli still leading. Strong sprint by the Italian, maybe should have gotten the leadout today? Or not working a bit earlier?

Stepniak closing in and so is Bennett on the other side.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_04_PCM0219.jpg

But Haller`s pace was best and he was able to hold on. Second stage win for him this Tour of America with Stepniak in 2nd ahead of Bennett.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/ToA/mg20_toa_04_PCM0222.jpg

Martinelli actually defended 4th until the line, when Ulanowski clearly passed him afterwards a lot faster for 5th. Chaotic sprints by that team.

Vaquera and Von Hoff follow with Young, King and Bogdanovics as last in the top10. Ranneries in 14th struggling.
