The final French race before Le Tour sees a very strong line-up.
Favourites:
Robert Gesink
Cadel Evans
Thomas Dekker
M. Fothen
Benat Intxausti
plus more!

In 2007, Thomas Dekker pushed eventual Tour de France winner Moreau all the way to take the win
1 Thomas Dekker CRÉDIT AGRICOLE 30h26'45
2 Christophe Moreau BOUYGUES TELECOM + 39
3 Alejandro Valverde COFIDIS, LE CRÉDIT PAR TÉLÉPHONE + 1'09
4 Damiano Cunego LAMPRE - FONDITAL + 1'25
5 Frank Schleck SAUNIER DUVAL - PRODIR + 2'29
6 Levi Leipheimer TEAM MILRAM + 3'29
7 Alberto Contador AG2R PRÉVOYANCE + 4'09
8 Koldo Gil SAUNIER DUVAL - PRODIR + 4'30
9 Francisco Perez Sanchez DISCOVERY CHANNEL PRO CYCLING TEAM + 5'15
10 José Enrique Gutiérrez Cataluña FRANÇAISE DES JEUX + 5'31
In a very close 2008 race, David Moncoutie surprised everyone by taking a 3 second win over Michael Rasmussen

The defending champion, David Moncoutie, is back again this year, but will be riding support for the Dutch prodigy that is, Robert Gesink. He will be supported by a trio of french climbers, Casar, the aforementioned Moncoutie, and Di Gregorio. Gesink will hopefully see a repeat of his Paris-Nice win, were he beat out his Dutch compatriot, Dekker.

Oh well, two boring stages. Dekker still showed himself in the sprints, though -- weird guy, save your energy for the mountains |
