Tour de Langkawi - Stage 7

Stage Profile

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/profile.jpg

Final stage of the Tour de Langkawi. It's another sprint stage today. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/nel.png Carsi has a decent lead in the points standings, but still quite a few riders that can overtake him. 150 km on the road map today. Some bumps across the stage, as well as one near the end. Let's see how it plays out.

Well the attackers aren't wasting any time today. The race commissaire has barely finished waving his flag and we see riders on the move. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/cen.png Mundle with some dangerous maneuvers there. He is followed by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/eur.png Lavery, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/esc.png Pushpakumara and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/lph.png Ulloa. We've gotten to know all these riders from previous stages.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0001.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/sva.png Schinnagel and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/lph.png Quicibal are also trying their luck now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0002.jpg

The other teams were not having any of it, so those two get brought back quite quickly.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0003.jpg

Another attempt now by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/lph.png Sterbini and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/mck.png Eisenhart. Los Pollos really want multiple riders in the break today.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0004.jpg

Those two also don't get a sniff, so it's the original 4 who look to be today's breakaway. They've built a solid 2'24'' over the 15 or so kilometres.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0005.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/tst.png Trans, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bsb.png Bralirwa and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/nel.png Nordica are committing to chase as of now, as we see the peloton pass the 1st intermediate sprint.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0006.jpg

Here we see the peloton on one of these uncategorised hills. The same teams still providing the workrate, with plenty of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/cdb.png Carlsberg jersey's nearby as they look to keep Warbasse safe at all times. Speaking of time the breakaway has 3'25'' over the peloton, over a 100 km to go still.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0007.jpg

Coming through the last intermediate sprint some 30 km later the gap has fallen to 2'28''.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0008.jpg

The peloton has negotiated the final climb today as they prepare to descend. They can see the breakaway up the road. 1'42'' with 45 km left.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0009.jpg

The chances of the breakaway succeeding don't look great, but they are working well together and still have 1'25 for the last 30 km.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0010.jpg

17 km to go pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bsb.png Bralirwa have said they've done enough, so it's up to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/nel.png Nordica and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/tst.png Trans to finish the job. Curiously we already see quite a few sprinters very close to the front.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0011.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bsb.png Bralirwa did help in the end and the catch is made inside the last 3 km. We already trains going hard, so let's list everyone here:

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bsb.png El Sabbahi
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/nel.png Carsi
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bsb.png Habtom
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bsb.png Selig
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/sva.png Bouhanni
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/tst.png Ignatiev
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/tst.png Korosec
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/tst.png Salleh
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/gct.png Kip
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/lph.png Guillen
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/cen.png Scullypcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/gla.png Bennett
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/car.png Lavoine
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bnz.png Wippert
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/ssr.png Pelucchi
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/cdb.png Kragh Andersen
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/trg.png Krieger

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0012.jpg

The riders further back have missed the train. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/cen.png Scully is the last one that's made it. We also have pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/lph.png Guillen, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/gct.png Kip, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/sva.png Bouhanni, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/nel.png Carsi and of course the train for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bsb.png Selig and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/tst.png Salleh, These will contest the win.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0013.jpg

Under the flamme rouge we see that pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bsb.png Selig has disconnected from his leadout and has to close the gap that's not ideal. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/sva.png Bouhanni and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/cen.png Scully are also further back.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0014.jpg

200 m from the line now. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/sva.png Bouhanni, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/cen.png Scully and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/nel.png Carsi look favourites for this.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0016.jpg

It's a close one but pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/cen.png Tom Scully is our winner! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/nel.png Carsi 2nd and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/sva.png Bouhanni 3rd.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/lph.png Guillen takes 4th, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/tst.png Salleh 5th, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/gct.png Kip is 6th, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bsb.png Selig 7th and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/car.png Lavoine 8th.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Langkawi/S7/PCM0017.jpg

So that concludes this year's Tour de Langkawi. Our overall winner is pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/cdb.png Lawrence Warbasse who one the 1st mountain stage and controlled the situation on the 2nd. Flanking him on the podium are pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/phi.png Keinath and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/afr.png Pinot.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/nel.png Carsi easily defends his points jersey today. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/car.png Chamorro had the KOM jersey on lockdown and similarly with the young rider's jersey and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/spr.png Ranaweera.
