A guy who shot a police officer and through clever PR got some people to think he's being framed just because he's black.
Fact is, there are 5 witnesses who say he shot the policeman and another one who says the guy told her he did indeed shoot the policeman.
EDIT: I must say i don't remember much about the case, but I do remember discussing it with a friend and browsing the web for info on the case with such friend a few years ago and coming to the strong conclusion that the guy is guilty.

Mumia Abu-Jamal (born Wesley Cook on April 24, 1954) is an American who was convicted and sentenced to death for the 1981 murder of police officer Daniel Faulkner.[3] Prior to his arrest he was a Black Panther Party activist, cab driver, and journalist. Since his conviction, his case has received international attention and he has become a controversial cultural icon. Supporters and opponents disagree on the appropriateness of the death penalty, whether he is guilty, or whether he received a fair trial.[4][5][6]
Well if the law is the death penalty and he's been given it, then thats right. The whole idea of it is "an eye for an eye"

I love the fact people quote the eye for an eye part of the bible. In the bible, Jesus preaches forgiveness, and surely the word of the Son of the God is more valid than the other parts?
Anyway, never read the case, I just always like to point out the case of Ron Williamson. Read this book, it's a great read, and all the more worrying (for Americans) because it's true

Good thing (or bad thing actually) about religious books (Bible, Koran, Torah, whatever) is that you can almost always quote a part that suits your views on this or that matter, just like you could pick another quote that would mean the opposite. Then based on a holy book, what wouldn't people feel legitimate to do ? |
